Description
redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This fine LP from Telefunken (6.42184, German Teldec-Telefunken-Decca pressing, blue label, stereo) features master cellist Maria Kliegel in sharply etched and poetic performances of Chopin's Polonaise brilliant in C major Op. 3 (in the edition prepared by cellist Leonard Rose) and Kodaly's Sonata for Solo Cello Op. 8.
In the Chopin, Kliegel is accompanied by the splendid pianist Ludger Maxsein. First issued on LP in 1977, this album offers exalted playing by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the cello will find much to admire here.
There are insightful and eloquent liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Gerhard Wienke, provided in German, English, and French. The striking cover photo of Kliegel is uncredited.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is some trace sticker residue on the upper-left corner of the front panel, but really that is all. There are no bends, seamplists, owners' markings, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a truly excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT), this is a fine copy and playback is superb. However, if you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP – this is a lovely collector's copy.
