Piotr Tchaikovsky: The Violin-Concerto, Meditation

British Ed1 Columbia stereo-pressing with turquoise & silver label. Art.-No. SAX 2323. Stamper-Nos. YLX 1048-8 & YLX 1049-8

Condition Cover: EX to NM. Almost in perfect shape with only light signs of general wear. Thick cardboard flip-back with laminated front.

Condition Vinyl: VG. The vinyl shows a multitude of light marks that produce surface noises throughout, it also has some defects, that occasionally produce tics, although there are no hangers, record plays through without problems. I have completely played the LP and the dynamics of this fantastic recording are still transported in quite an impressive way. In the forte parts, the defects are hardly noticeable, but in the quieter passages crackling and occasional tics will be recognizable throughout, although they do - at least in my impression - not overwhelm the music. That is mainly due to the fact that there is no long scratch that would produce repeated tics over a longer period of time. Definitely far from being the ultimate collector's copy, this still is a comparably enjoyable first pressing of this ultrarare gem!
