Description
Krishna Shah’s Shalimar Indian O.S.T. LP Polydor Premium Records Catalogue Number 2392 147, Legendary Indian funk-Sitar Moog soundtrack in the original Indian 1st print edition with a stunning elaborate fold out cover in the shape of the Shalimar Ruby. The film is about a Mafia boss who wants to select his Successor. He does so by giving 5 master thieves the task of stealing a huge ruby called "SHALIMAR" from his own, heavily guarded castle.
The music is unsurpassed: Title Music - unique Indian instrumental funk track with wah wah and eerie melodies over breakbeats (sort of Star Trek meets Dirty Harry in Bombay), in extreme stereo, and the floorfiller "Let’s do Cha Cha Cha" with moog and sitar ridden passages and sexy singing. But there’s more! Check the ersatz tribal dance music on the end of side one, the sleazy funk song "Baby let’s dance together" and another instrumental tune which is more Deep Bombay Drama. Music by the Indian genius Rahul Dev Burman.
This was one of the few attempts at making an Indian film that could be distributed Internationally, It features Rex Harrison and John Saxon (the latter playing a deaf and dumb thief - so Saxon didn’t need to learn his Hindi sentences). Needless to say, it didn’t make it to the international screens! Big fat sound, amazing tracks! Elaborate Gatefold Sleeve EX- Record EX--(6 or 7 light scuffs no deep scratches or major damage plays great), P&P UK £2.50 Overseas at cost
