Description
Youth Gone Mad, Oki Dogs e.p., no label name. Songs include Oki Dogs, Energy, Tres Flores, Constructive Destructiveness, and Everything's Turning Green. Extremely rare original issue L.A. hardcore disc, the first by this legendary band that later moved to NYC and worked with Dee Dee Ramone. This is the complete package, with the original plastic outer bag, picture sleeve, inner plain white sleeve, disc, lyric sheet, and unpeeled sticker.
Record is very strong VG+ to M- shape, just a couple of extremely light, superficial marks that don't affect play, nearly pristine. One side of the label has the band's name stamped on it (though the letter Y actually appears on the inner white sleeve--whatever band member did the stamping lined it up a little too far to the left). The other label is blank. A-side has, "Dedicated to Dear Dead Delilah" etched into the dead wax, B-side says, "It's Perfect" along with the recording date.
White inner sleeve has that letter "Y" stamped on it (which is cool, as you can line up the record in the sleeve in its original orientation), otherwise perfect shape, with some light aging to the color. Unpeeled sticker and lyric sheet are both beautiful, no issues whatsoever. Clear outer baggie is structurally intact, shows moderate general wear. Picture sleeve (actually a card that has been folded in half) is very nice, with some light creasing around the edges. Sleeve is signed by the bass player, Sickness, under her given name: "to Mr. Carpenter from Valerie." I'm guessing that Mr. Carpenter was an adult friend or teacher who was supportive of Valerie's musical aspirations, or maybe just liked punk.
In any case, this is a superb, ultra-rare copy of YGM's first record with all the materials intact. The band was a local legend in the heyday of the U.S.'s single greatest punk scene, and this almost never comes up for sale complete and in this kind of shape.
Grading
MINT- Perfect or virtually perfect.
VG+ Light marks, full shine, great looking record
VG Still fairly shiny but clearly a used record, light scratches, will play well but with some surface noise
VG- Played or used more heavily, lots of scratches, more pronounced surface noise, but still plays through okay
G Rough record
