And the LOUISIANA DRIFTERS
This little indie hit the streets in September of 1956, and is by Larry Bamberg and the Louisiana Drifters. He’s a regular around Shreveport, and this record is also a peek into the dim past of many-storied guitarist James Burton. When he was only 14 he started picking up some work, even appearing at the Louisiana Hayride.
In those early days he recorded some early sessions too, down at Ram Records in Shreveport. One of his early groups was this very band, Larry Bamburg and The Louisiana Drifters. This one’s from 1956, and he’s likely in the mix with the lead guitar pickin’ on this platter. The songs here are “Cheating On Me” and “Careless Loving.”
