Description

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs
Derek and the Dominos
Gold Plated On One Side
180g
by Simply Vinyl

Beautiful - One Of a Kind!

NOTE: After unsuccessfully trying to sell this twice with fixed price, I've decided to let YOU tell me how much this is worth.
Auction starts at 1 CENT!

I bought this from a record store that was going out of business last year. The guy was pulling out all sorts of odds and ends that had accumulated in the back room. At first blush, this looks like an ordinary Simply Vinyl 180 gram issue of the famous Layla album by Dereck and the Dominos. But once you check it out, you will notice two things:

1) There is only one LP here of the two record set

2) Side one is GOLD PLATED! It's not gold vinyl, but Gold Plated.

The LP actually weighs aproximately 220 grams.

Side 2 is uniformly black. The edge where the gold meets black is exactly in the middle and is a perfect straight line.

I do not know the story of this record. I suspect that this record was intended to be framed and made into a gold record award.

The black side has been played by me once (sounds great!). The gold side has never been played. Both sides are flawless mint condition.

Here are the matrix numbers in the deadwax:

Side 1 (Gold Side): 08 50432 20 1A1 SVLP 107
Side 2 (Black Side): 08 50432 20 1B1 SVLP 107

In comparing the groove pattern for side 1 from this Simply Vinyl to an old ATCO SD 2-704, the spacing of the tracks looks identical.
The pictures below are of the exact item you are bidding on.
