VINYL is VG+/EX+
Extremely clean, glossy vinyl has very few non-feelable light surface lines on side one. Side 2 is very close to NM with only light scuff in trail-off area around label, that just barely reaches grooves. Labels are super clean both sides with no spindle marks.

COVER is EX
Textured wrap-over cover art is crisp, unfaded and very clean with one manufacture wrinkle on back, u.r. and a couple small darkened spots, also on back, that appear to be from manufacture adhesive beneath (See last photo). Thick, sturdy Black pebble-texture cover stock is amazingly without flaw. NO wear, rub, soil or other marks. Seams and spine 100% intact with no wear or splits. Quite rare for a 1960's Folkways cover.

Ultra RARE Original TRUE 1960 1st PRESSING
a) Song composer/publishing credits are not printed on the record labels (ALL later pressings include Composer and Publisher credits below each song title)
b) Front Cover states "SUNG BY LEAD BELLY," not "SUNG BY LEADBELLY" (Next Pressing and further pressings correctly state "LEADBELLY")
c) There is no printing (copyright, etc.) in the lower corner of the back cover, under the track list. (Next Pressing and further pressings add insert info, copyright, Folkways catalog #, etc.)
d) Original Address "121 W. 47 ST., N.Y.C." on Labels and Insert (Next pressing used "701 SEVENTH AVE. N.Y.C." address; later pressings used "43 W. 61st St., N.Y.C. 10023"  or "632 Broadway..." address)
e) Grooved Blue Labels with metallic silver print. (They were blue even through 1967 pressing; later pressings had grey or red labels with black, grey or non-metallic silver print.)
f) Complete uncropped Photo on Front Cover. (later pressings crop a bit of Leadbelly's head at top and some of the guitar at bottom/left/right)
g) Cover Titles in RED print on light grey background (some later pressings varied with blue or black Titles on cover - and some on white background.)
h) Thick stock Lyrics/Notes INSERT has original OFFSET PRINTERS UNION Seal on back page, l.r. corner
