One of the TOUGHEST editions to get, in decent playing condition and nicely preserved!
Brimming with quality blues tracks, all fantastic playing and singing. This debut shows nothing but ethusiastic talent, and well constructed songs with well-honed playing. Jimmy Page joined The Yardbirds in their final days, when they were tied up in contracts and tired of touring with little rewards. Jimmy wanted the band to carry on but the other members had already had enough and were tired out. Page was coaxed out of the studios and was raring to go, so recruiting old session pal John Paul Jones and taking a recommendation from Terry Reid about this Robert Plant solo singer, he cultivated an audition - Plant mentioned his pal John Bonham - and the stage was set for outstanding musical synchronicity! What a record it is too - some tracks already worked on and saved by Page for this, and some they worked on writing, to perfection, all together.
Few groups had better symbiosis, connection, and regard for the same end results.
Jimmy tried out some innovative studio techniques, notably for mic-ing the room to get the best out of the space and equipment, and a natural loudness without distortion.
An incredible album by THE top British band - snag this rarity as there will be very few around.
(a copy in this condition recently sold for aprox £1,200 in Sweden at a convention, please bid thoughtfully and to own - there will be few such opportunities!)
The vinyl is VG++, good shine, light spider-web visible, and a couple of also-light scuff lines.
Play is good too, the sound is loud and clear with some slight 'dust' between tracks.
The Lables grade EX condition, clean, bright and a few spindle-lines for some signs of play.
Super card fully-laminated sleeve cover is VG+(+), The spine is clean and solid overall, seams have little wear, bends, dirt or fingerprints from handling except for the bottom seam which has a split at the middle area. This is the TURQUOISE text cover with GREY bottom seam and 'fan' Atlantic logo.
A nice FIRST PRESSING AND RELEASE copy from the debut of this great album.
FEW or no bands are higher regarded, and there is no other of their LP's that's more sought after than this very edition!
