Description

Led Zeppelin - 1st Album Turquoise lettering

Here we have an original, yes original UK pressing of the first Led Zeppelin album from 1969. Allegedly only 2000 copies released in 1969, the holy grail for Zeppelin collectors etc etc. This belonged to my Dad who bought it back in 1969 and it has sat stored in a spare room from the mid seventies onwards.

This is a UK original not a recent reproduction. What you would expect:
  • Superhype credits
  • Matrix: 588171
  • Red/plum labels
  • Turquoise lettering on front cover, not orange
  • Grey stripe across bottom of sleeve.
  • MacNeill press ltd.

Vinyl: This is the important bit...If you want a mint condition one or even a good condition one then this is not for you. There are plenty of surface marks on both sides of the record. The photo I've taken makes it look ok because its a digital photo and they never tell the truth, but there are plenty of surface marks, this you should know. Both labels are quite clean (see photo) with only the expected spindle marks around the hole. Disc itself is not in any way warped. Please note, I have not played this record and it has surface marks/scratches...as far as I am aware it will play fine but I can not guarantee this! Do not bid expecting an unplayed mint version!
Cover: Some creasing on the bottom left front/right back and the usual ringware (see photo) which is more visible as a result of the lamination. Very small grubby areas on the edges, right hand edge is slightly worn. Hey it is 42 years old! Silver line along the bottom on the front cover that seems to be important to some folk; hey folks, it's there ! No evidence of any sticker marks, price marks etc. However, it seems to have been taped together at the top at some point, see picture for sellotape marks.
Despite having given it a hard time in my description of its condition, I have no doubt that whoever wins it will be delighted to own it. Please ensure you are aware of its condition before you bid!
If you really want to own a copy of this record and don't want to pay stupid money then this may be your best opportunity, jolly good luck.   Any other questions about this incredibly rare album, please feel free to ask. Postage is the general rates I use for normal albums, however, depending on final price I would recommend some sort of recorded delivery, or even insurance.
