LED ZEPPELIN 1ST TURQUOISE SLEEVE SUPERHYPE RED/PLUM!

Description

LED ZEPPELIN

"LED ZEPPELIN"

INCREDIBLY RARE - JUST TRY AND ANOTHER ONE!

PLAYGRADED: not simply glanced at with a superficial visual grading, fully played and graded throughout (listened to on headphones - the most revealing playgrade method, with no exterior audio distractions)

OUTER SLEEVE:

The rarest of all Led Zeppelin vinyl on Atlantic Red/Plum and the absolute 1st ever press. 'Orange' sleeves are the second press. Features the all important MacNeill Press Ltd credit on the bottom of the rear sleeve.

Typical condition for its age, laminate creases are impossible to avoid on these 1st press sleeves, I've not seen one (including the orange ones) without laminate creases. Average wear overall, not too bad and certainly not trashed thankfully!

 SPINE

Fairly flattened, moderate wear, still legible

TOP AND BOTTOM EDGES

Are virtually completely unworn and in incredible condition thanks to the protection from the laminate finish.

OPENING EDGES

Moderate feathering and thumbing to the opening edges, but still reasonable!

VINYL:

5 8 8 1 7 1  A // 1    1  2   1

5 8 8 1 7 1  B // 1     1  2   ?

(last 2 numbers are actually hard to make out, second one looks like a backwards 2 and last number is indistinguishable)

(UNCORRECTED MATRIX ON BOTH SIDES...SOME COPIES FEATURE ONE OF THE '8's CROSSED OUT AND THEN ETCHED BACK IN BY HAND, THIS ONE DOES NOT!)

Mostly it plays much better than it looks! Plays through with no jumps or sticks throughout. Audio tone is stunning with amazing clarity on all frequencies. Absolutely no distortion from groove wear. Several obvious marks and scratches and has obviously been well played in the last 41 years! Could do with a thorough, deep clean as this may improve the audio. there is persistent background crackle throughout and regular light pops and clicks (mainly covered quite well by the audio in the louder parts), fairly prominent in quiet sections.

Worst scratch is at end of You Shook Me for about 6 or 7 clicks and then does feature for about another 6/7 clicks on quiet intro to Dazed & Confused. Still plays through without jumping or sticking

Still an enjoyable listen and still way better than the 70's reissues!

LABELS:

The classic red/plum labels are in good condition, both have had an 'A' and 'B' written in biro on the respective labels.

INNER SLEEVE:

Just a plain white one.

POSTAGE AND PACKING:

I recycle as much existing material as possible and reuse record mailers if they are of good enough quality. Edges and corners are reinforced with packing tape. Stiffeners are used to strengthen and support the record.

Vinyl is removed from the outer gatefold to prevent any 'knifing' to the outer sleeve.

I ship in the UK using Royal Mail 1st Class. A certificate of postage is obtained for every item. Signed for delivery is available on request at extra cost. Please ask.

Feedback is left for buyers once they have contacted me and left feedback stating they are happy with their purchase. Should there be any issues, please contact me first.

I ship worldwide. Item will be shipped in board-backed envelope for maximum protection.
