You are bidding for an original mega rare copy of Led Zeppelin (1) bought on the day after it's release, (31 Mar 1969) with TURQUOISE lettering & Red/Plum label.

I went to see Led Zeppelin on March 31st 1969 at the Cooks Ferry Inn, Edmonton, (England), see this link http://www.ledzeppelin.com/show/march-31-1969
and was blown away with the noise level and sound of the band, this was a Monday and my ears didn't stop ringing until the Thursday morning. I was only 15!
Straight after school the next day I bought the album, and now it's for sale to you.

I have kept it in the same plastic bag that I got it in and the cover is near perfect with just a slight bend in the top right corner causing a slight delamination of the laminated covering on the back. Please note that it is NOT split. It is still in it's original paper inner sleeve with polythene liner. The labels are in superb condition with no marks, scratches etc, and it is pressed in heavy vinyl.

Matrix numbers are - Side one 588171 A//1
Side two 588171 B//1
Later copies had the second 8 etched out and re-etched above.

Grading of Led Zeppelin:
Cover: Excellent - As stated above this copy has been kept in it's original plastic LP bag and has minimal wear and tear, with very slight delamination in places. The spine is still very readable, (see photo's) with just a few marks. The inner liner is the original and doesn't have any splits or tears. This is 43 years old!

Album: Side 1 Matrix 588171 A//1 with additional stamper of 1 1 8.
Very nice shiny heavy vinyl with minimal marks and rubs, 1 very slight mark on track one, (Good Times Bad Times) which does not affect playing. Also one very small scratch (6mm) at end of track 4 (Dazed and Confused), but again does NOT affect playing. Very slight surface noise between tracks but audibly no lessening of sound quality. Grade VG+ to Excellent.

Side 2: Matrix 588171 B//1 with additional stamper of 18 5
As per side 1 very nice shiny vinyl with minimal marks and rubs, with just one very slight scratch across track 1 (Your Time Is Gonna Come). Again this does not affect the playing of the record. Very slight surface noise between tracks but audibly no lessening of sound quality.  Grade VG+ to Excellent.

The LP sits nice and flat on the turntable with no signs of warping.

My overall grading of this outstanding album is VG+ to Excellent.

I try to grade my records as accurately as possible and obviously want to give 100% satisfaction to my buyers. I have played and listened to this album on a ION Profile deck whilst converting it to Itunes. I have graded using the Record Collector grading system as follows:

MINT: THE RECORD ITSELF IS IN BRAND NEW CONDITION WITH NO SURFACE  MARKS OR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY. THE COVER AND ANY EXTRA ITEMS, ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION.

EXCELLENT: THE RECORD SHOWS SOME SIGNS OF HAVING BEEN PLAYED BUT THERE IS VERY LITTLE LESSENING IN SOUND QUALITY. THE COVER AND PACKAGING MAY HAVE SLIGHT WEAR AND/OR CREASING.

VERY GOOD: THE RECORD HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN PLAYED MANY TIMES BUT DISPLAYS NO MAJOR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY, DESPITE  NOTICEABLE SURFACE MARKS AN OCCASIONAL LIGHT SCRATCH. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE COVER AND CONTENTS WITHOUT ANY MAJOR DEFECTS IS ACCEPTABLE.

GOOD: THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED SO MUCH THAT THE SOUND QUALITY HAS NOTICEABLY DETERIORATED PERHAPS WITH SOME DISTORTION AND MILD SCRATCHES. THE COVER AND CONTENTS SUFFER FROM FOLDING, SCUFFED EDGES, SPINE SPLITS, DISCOLOURATION ETC.

Due to my grading above, I don't believe that this is a copy for purist, but I cannot stress enough how good this sounds, there really is no 'Communication Breakdown' I am immediately taken back to 1969, and telling everybody I could that I sat in front of Jimmy Page with my feet on the very small stage, while he played his heart out and dripped sweat onto my Dunlop Green Flashes.

This is a great opportunity to grab a RARE piece of Rock History, A FIRST PRESSING OF LED ZEPPELIN'S FIRST ALBUM WITH THE EXTREMELY RARE TURQUOISE LETTERING AND GREY BASELINE. Subsequent issues were with orange lettering.

It's got what I believe to be a a low start price and no reserve, two have just sold on ebay, one with a poster for £635.35p and another, (without poster) for £480.00. If you want to own this Holy Grail of an album then bid while you can.
