A great opportunity to buy a copy of a RARE Led Zeppelin VINYL LP from the 1960's.
This is a U.K. FIRST pressing released in 1969 on the Atlantic label (588171).
It is their "self-titled" debut LP on the red / maroon label with "Superhype" publishing credit and with the incorrect numbering in the publishing credits on the side one label (see photos).
The matrix and stamp numbers in the dead wax are:- 588171 A//1 1 1 1 (side one) and 588171 B//1 1 8(?) 2 (side two).
The vinyl is in a clean and shiny VERY GOOD condition. I always examine and grade records under a bright table lamp and there are a few light surface marks noticeable, some covering several tracks, but nothing too serious. They do not appear to affect the sound quality and I have played both sides and they play fine and sound great. There was just a light surface noise evident in the run-off grooves of both sides.
The labels are free from any stickers, writing or major defects. Some spindle marks are evident when tilted towards the light.The record is housed within a poly-lined inner sleeve in an Excellent condition.
The cover is laminated front and back and is in a fair to good condition. It has unfortunately been in contact with some dampness during the course of its 45 years and this has caused a ripple effect along the area close to the opening edge. This is a real shame as the other 3 edges are very strong and the text on the spine is clearly readable (see photos). The cover has the thin grey stripe along the bottom edge, confirming it as an early pressing.
Despite the shortcomings of the cover, this is a very collectable Led Zeppelin LP and should be of interest to avid collectors.
