LED ZEPPELIN - " FOUR (SYMBOLS) ", Atlantic Records Ltd. (2401012) Stereo, 1971

Very rare, 1971, English 1st issue/matrix , LP issue of the classic album by Zeppelin.

Featuring the all-important gatefold sleeve, inner sleeve and the original Atlantic Plum and Orange labels - see photo.


Matrix numbers

SIDE A = 2401012 A//3 matrix, with "Porky" etched into the run-off groove.
SIDE B = 2401012 B//4 matrix, with "Pecko Duck" etched into the run-off groove.

English issue and pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)



CONDITION:

VINYL =  V.G.+ (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, lightish spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out a few very slight surface marks and a few other faint scuffs just visible on the vinyl's surface - although none of these correspond directly to any audible defects. Generally it plays pretty well, but there is some very faint occasional surface noise audible during the run-in, between tracks and duting the first few seconds of the quiet intro of a couple of tracks. As the record played, I did hear the odd faint click or crackle in the background from time to time, but generally once the music kicks in that's all you can hear.

Although the label is actually in reasonable condition for it's age, the original owner did write their name on it in biro on one side - see photo.

Overall, although it is not quite perfect and I realise this will affect the value, it is by no means ruined by these minor imperfections and would still make a good honest copy for someone to play and enjoy - perfect copies of this LP exchange hands for a lot of money these days and although this is not one of those museum pieces, it is still a very serviceable copy that would be great for somebody out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intented.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)


SLEEVE = EX- (Generally pretty good. But had to be marked down slightly for general light wear to the edges/corners, a tiny tear to the open edge about 4mm in length and the original owner has written their name inside the cover in blue biro - see photos for further clarification)

INNER SLEEVE = FAIR (Torn at the top, split along the bottom edge and with marks over the edges and tear where previous owner has repaired it with sellotape. Not the best example of course, but still present at least and a monir detail in the grand scheme of things)
