Description

The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega Planar 3 turntable fitted with an Elys cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. Any significant playing defects will be detailed in the description below. I know how disappointing it is to receive a record graded as excellent, only to find that listening pleasure is spoiled by endless pops, loud clicks and intrusive background crackle. I guarantee that you will not buy such a record from me!!

The winning bidder can expect to receive a clean record, carefully packaged, with the vinyl removed from the inner and outer sleeves to prevent splits in transit.

Here for auction is a superb example of the album by LED ZEPPELIN titled “HOUSES OF THE HOLY”, Catalogue Number K 50014. This is an ORIGINAL 1973 UK STEREO FIRST PRESSING on the GREEN/ORANGE ATLANTIC LABEL with THE EARLIEST A2, B2 Matrix Numbers, STERLING RL etched in the dead wax run-out, and Superhype Publishing Credits on the record labels. Extremely hard to find in this stunning condition!!

The first press matt finish gatefold sleeve, designed by Hipgnosis is very well preserved indeed. The front and back covers are unmarked, and the opening gatefold is pristine. The edges and corners show hardly any signs of wear, just light creasing to the spine corners. There is a clean 2” split in middle of the top edge caused by the record edge, which is a real shame as this is otherwise a beautiful sleeve. It’s not really that noticeable – but it is there. The spine is in EXCELLENT SHAPE. There are no stickers or writing.

The SOLIDLY PRESSED vinyl retains much of its ORIGINAL LUSTRE and sits flat and true on the turntable. There are just a few very light surface marks which do not affect play in any way. The BEAUTIFUL GREEN/ORANGE ATLANTIC LABELS show only light spindle marking and are otherwise unmarked.

PLAYGRADE ASSESSMENT:

Both sides play SUPERBLY with ALL FREQUENCIES CRYSTAL CLEAR. This is a particularly vibrant recording which SOUNDS SENSATIONAL!! There are NO jumps, pops or loud clicks, just occasional light crackle during some of the quieter passages (never intrusive). An absolute pleasure to listen to.

Complete with the ORIGINAL CARD LYRIC INNER SLEEVE printed in England by MacNeill Press Ltd. which is in very good condition. Unusually for this fragile card inner there are NO SPLITS, just a few spots of discoloration.

DON’T MISS THIS ONE!!!
