ORIGINAL 1st UK ISSUE - GATEFOLD SLEEVE - 1973

OUTSTANDING CONDITION!!!

 

 

 

Original UK stereo LP, release date 1973 on the Atlantic label.

Catalogue number: K 50014 (Very 1st UK press - no WB on label!)

Matrix Nos: K50014 A2 and K50014 B2 with "STERLING RL" stamped into the run off

Condition of cover/inner/record: M- / EX+ / EX (Grading as used by Record Collector)

 

THIS IS ONE OF LED ZEPPELINS ULTIMATE RARITIES!!! AN ORIGINAL 1st UK PRESSING FROM 1973 IN FANTASTIC CONDITION AND WITH THE ORIGINAL SASH!!! - IT'S ONLY THE SECOND ONE I HAVE EVER SEEN AND OBVIOUSLY VERY, VERY RARE!!! Only the 1st pressing came with the sash which wrapped around the LP and says "LED ZEPPELIN - HOUSES OF THE HOLY" on one side and has the ATLANTIC logo and catalogue number on the reverse. As the sash wrapped around the LP, 99.9% of them were just ripped off and thrown away to get to the record - this one, although ripped, is still here!!!

The front cover is in great condition - the original semi-gloss sheen is clear and clean, there is no ringwear at all and it looks almost new. The open gatefold is pristine. There is no visible wear to the edges and only the most minor wear to the corners, and this is all that prevents it being NM. The spine is strong and sharp which is very unusual on a gatefold sleeve of this age. Stunning and new looking and a really STRONG EX+

The sash was cleanly ripped along one side to gain access to the LP, but is completely intact - no missing parts; it is a bit creased but is in a generally good condition.

The inner sleeve is completely intact and has the song lyrics printed in black on thick white, rough paper. There is minor yellowing but very unobtrusive. Printed in England by MacNeill Press Ltd, this is again the 1st issue and grades EX+

The labels on the vinyl are the original matt, rough textured ones and are clean and bright with only minor spindle markings - hardly noticable! All the later pressings featue the Warner Brothers logo around the rim - THIS ONE DOES NOT!!! A true first pressing! The labels grade EX+

The vinyl itself is stunning!!! A few visible light surface marks, but the record has a wonderful glossy shine and looks new. The audio is superb, a tiny bit of surface noise is evident at times during some quiet passages but it's hardly noticible - even the run ins are near silent!!! Plays like new, producing a beautiful warm tone and punchy dynamics. A STRONG EX

A beautiful example of this original pressing, amazing condition for a 31 year old record and so rare with the sash... dont miss out!!!
