LED ZEPPELIN - HOUSES OF THE HOLY - Vinyl Record - HHR00596 G
This record is by Led Zeppelin the English rock band formed in London in 1968. The group comprised vocalist Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham. With a heavy, guitar-driven sound, they are cited as one of the progenitors of heavy metal, although their style drew from a variety of influences, including blues and folk music. Initially unpopular with critics, they achieved significant commercial success with eight studio albums over ten years. Page composed most of Led Zeppelin's music, particularly early in their career, while Plant wrote most of the lyrics. Jones's keyboard-based compositions later became central to their music, which featured increasing experimentation. Led Zeppelin’s total record sales are estimated to be between 200 and 300 million units worldwide. They achieved eight consecutive UK number-one albums and six number-one albums on the US Billboard 200, with five of their albums certified Diamond.
Houses of the Holy is their fifth studio album, released on 28 March 1973 in the United States and on 30 March 1973 in the United Kingdom. The album benefited from two band members installing studios at home, which allowed them to develop more sophisticated songs and arrangements and expand their musical style. Although critical response was mixed, Houses of the Holy became a commercial success, later receiving a Diamond certification in 1999 for at least 10 million copies sold in the US.
