Description
Up for auction is a strong VG on the vinyl / VG+ on the Cover original pressing of Led Zeppelin II, SD 8236. This is the legendary pressing mastered by Robert Ludwig (RL) at Sterling Sound Studios (SS). The Info in the dead wax, (side one) ST-A-691671-C-LW W AT RL SS. (side two) W AT ST-A-691672-C-LW RL SS. The info at the bottom of the record labels are (side one) is (ST-A-691671 PR), (side two) is (ST-A-691672 PR) The PR at the end of the code indicates it was pressed at Presswell Record Manufacturing out of Ancora, N.J. The record itself is Strong VG. It plays more like VG+ on side one and most of side 2. There is a light scratch at the side two that causes a light/soft tic during the quiet parts at the end of Moby Dick and through the quiet parts on Bring It On Home. No skips, no jumps. Visually it has some pressing dimples which are hard to see unless you hold it just right in the sunlight but i played this record several times on some high end gear and couldnt hear any noise or effect on the sound from the dimples in the vinyl and a couple of superficial surface scratches/scuffs which dont affect playability. Despite some visual flaws The record plays really nice. Absolutely a great play copy. The cover is VG+. Nice clean cover overall. No seam splits. A small 1/2 inch long paper tear on top seam. The opening where the record slides in is nice and crisp as are most of the edges, just some shelf wear along the bottom and top but the seams are strong. This cover has some nice seams for a Zepp II cover. There is some wear on the corners. The spine is very sturdy and seams are strong. The Atlantic inner paper sleeve is included.
Record will be shipped outside of the cover to prevent seam splits. The cover and record will be placed in a plastic outer sleeve and mailed in a record mailer with cardboard pads/inserts to further protect the record. Record mailer is high quality. consists of 200lb test cardboard with a 32lb edge crush rating. I have been collecting records for years and totally understand how to safely ship records.
