Description
Up for auction is a rare original pressing of Led Zeppelin II, SD 8236. This is the pressing mastered by Robert Ludwig (RL) on side one and Lee Hulko one of the owners of Sterling Sound Studios (SS) on side two. Hulko was in charge of remastering some of side two which was the side that was causing the troubles with the original 2 sided RL mastered versions. I read it was certain parts in Ramble On and Moby Dick which were causing the needles to jump on certain turntables when the record first came out because of the bass. So they had Lee Hulko remaster side two. It is the second best sounding version of Zepp II that your gonna find. The only version better than this is a two sided R.L. but they are a bit more expensive. The Info in the dead wax, (side one) T ST-A-691671-1A RL SS. (side two) T ST-A-691672-D SS LH. The info at the bottom of the record labels are (side one) is (ST-A-691671 CTH), (side two) is (ST-A-691672 CTH) The CTH at the end of the code indicates it was pressed at the Columbia Record Productions, Terre Haute, IN. pressing plant. This is a killer play copy. The record itself is graded as Excellent. It plays Excellent. No skips, no jumps. It has a long, superficial, surface mark on side one which does not affect the sound at all. It plays very clean just a tiny bit of surface noise when the needle drops on side one.
Cover, a moderate VG+ (see pics). The cover is in great shape, just some wear on the corners and spine. Has a name written on the top right hand corner on the front (its kinda hard to see) The edges along the opening where the record slides are nice as are most of the edges, just some shelf wear along the bottom and top but the seams are strong. The spine has wear but the spine is very sturdy. It just has some wear and tear of 40 years. The original Atlantic inner paper sleeve is included.
Record will be shipped outside of the cover (but still in a sleeve) to protect the seams of the cover during shipping. Then cover and record will be placed in a plastic outer sleeve and mailed in a record mailer with cardboard pads/inserts to further protect the record. Record mailer is high quality. consists of 200lb test cardboard with a 32lb edge crush rating. I have been collecting records for years and totally understand how to safely ship records. THanks for checking out my Auction. Sorry But No International Shipping. Orders in the U.S.A. only :) Shipping is $4.00 media mail with delivery confirmation.
