LED ZEPPELIN II A2 / B2 Atlantic 58818 UK 1969 RED/PLUM Label
This later red/plum vinyl has superb audio overall as detailed below. It has 'Killing Floor' credit on the label not 'The Lemon Song' which is on the earlier pressings although the latter is still listed on the gatefold.

Visual grading
The vinyl has been very well cared for down the years and I would say hasn't been too much. There is some spindle wear but not a great deal. There are a number of fine hairlines on each side with one small one on S1 that is slightly more obvious but there are no scratches. Overall the vinyl is in excellent condition for nearly 50 years old.
Play grading
'Whole Lotta Love' plays in stunning style with only a couple of dust ticks on the intro. The instrumental section is astounding and has no 'background' at all and the following guitar solo has no distortion either, a rarity. The track continues in the same fashion and even the quiet 'way down inside...' vocal has barely any static. This is audio of exceptional quality and even the fade out has interference. The quiet intro on 'What is and What Should Never Be' is Near Mint the clarity is that good. The remainder of the track also excels with the quieter sections having no 'background' and the louder parts displaying barely any distortion. No clicks, pops or crackle anywhere. Again there is next to no interference on the fade out. 'Killing Floor' plays with wonderful power and depth with of course a stunning strong bass sound. A very minor amount of static in the background on occasion perhaps but it really is very minor and once more there is not one single click or pop. Just a little distortion on the end section. As is common 'Thank You' does play with some distortion but in the main that is the only 'interference' aside from a little static. The fade out/in/out section plays very well with only a little crackle and impressively there are no clicks or pops again.
'Heart Breaker' has very light static on the first five seconds and then plays with very powerful audio and no real negatives, just one faint click and very minor amount of background static in the guitar solo section. From then on the quality is Near Mint for sure, the strength and depth is incredible. Rarely have I heard better, wow! 'Livin' Lovin Maid' impresses with astonishing power and no 'background' at all and again grades as Near Mint if not better! No distortion either. The 'Ramble On' intro is fantastic, no 'background' just pure audio. It then proceeds to play with breathtaking sound which 'knocks spots' off the more recent reissues. The depth and precision is of the highest standard, there are not enough adjectives for the stunning audio on offer here! The long fade out is incredible and has no 'background', the clarity is astounding. Let's give it a Mint- it deserves it. 'Moby Dick' maintains the standard and plays with superb clarity and depth again. The intro and drum section have no clicks or pops and the latter is just sublime. For a 'one instrument section' to play so cleanly on a vinyl of this age is a rarity. With only a very small number of barely audible dust ticks this is high quality audio. The long quiet intro on 'Bring It On Home' has a few light static sounds and some minor background hiss but believe me when I say it still plays very clearly with no clicks or pops. The remainder plays very well with only some distortion on the top end which is common, this being the final track on the side where the grooves are pressed closer together. It remains an excellent listen and the quiet section end section plays with supreme clarity and very little 'background'.
Gatefold cover
The Gothic Print Finishers gatefold is in excellent condition with only minor shelf wear. The top edges have no wear and the wide spine is 'as new' apart from a little corner rub. The bottom edges have a little rubbing albeit minor and there is a little rubbing on the right hand corners also. The front cover is very clean but there a number of faint foxing marks on the white section and one white 'line' near the bottom edge. The back cover is extremely clean with only one mark top right. The inside of the gatefold is in superb shape and again looks like new. The opening edge has no handling wear at all. There are many aspects of this gatefold that remain in fantastic condition and it is definitely one of the cleaner ones you will find.
Inner sleeve
The original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous' inner sleeve has no splits or tears and only a little age related marking along the top edges. It has the patent numbers plus 'Made In England' and 9/71 printed on one side which refers to the production date.
The Labels
They are in lovely condition with no writing or marking and not a great deal of spindle wear.
