Once again in the space of only a few months, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and the thundering John “Bonzo” Bonham released an album filled with Amazing music! This time, the songs are loosely based on blues standards but are credited to the band and not to the men who wrote the original blues songs.

“Recorded quickly during Led Zeppelin's first American tours, Led Zeppelin II provided the blueprint for all the heavy metal bands that followed it. Since the group could only enter the studio for brief amounts of time, most of the songs that compose II are reworked blues and rock & roll standards that the band was performing on-stage at the time. Not only did the short amount of time result in a lack of original material, it made the sound more direct. Jimmy Page still provided layers of guitar overdubs, but the overall sound of the album is heavy and hard, brutal and direct. "Whole Lotta Love," "The Lemon Song," and "Bring It on Home" are all based on classic blues songs — only, the riffs are simpler and louder and each song has an extended section for instrumental solos. Of the remaining six songs, two sport light acoustic touches ("Thank You," "Ramble On"), but the other four are straight-ahead heavy rock that follows the formula of the revamped blues songs. While Led Zeppelin II doesn't have the eclecticism of the group's debut, it's arguably more influential. After all, nearly every one of the hundreds of Zeppelin imitators used this record, with its lack of dynamics and its pummeling riffs, as a blueprint.” The songs are:

This second album introduced a familiar staple of the band’s live shows: "Moby Dick". The group would start the song out with as bang and then Page, Plant and Jones would leave the stage and John Bonham would Enthral the audience for one of the longest and most creative drum solos in rock history! Sometimes they went on for as much as 20 minutes! Then, the rest of the band would come back on stage and take the song home to a thunderous climax!

O.K., I have graded this LP as VG++ for the gatefold cover, with that Thick, Heavy 1960's cardboard, it s solid and sturdy with no splits, holes, cuts or tears- and NO barcode! There is some paper peeling at the spine. REMMBER, I use my own grading system, NOT Goldmines... so you might scroll down and read it. The vinyl is VG++, with static and pops, but it still played Great with NO skips! Like all of my used LPs, this has been cleaned with my VPI HW-16.5 Vacuum record cleaner! An Atlantic Records sleeve is included, it's in good condition with some small tears at the top edge. The record labels read 1841 Broadway and YES, the initials "RL" are in the deadwax on both sides. RL is for Bob Ludwig, also known as "The Man With The Golden Ear"! Bob has worked on some of the Greatest-Sounding albums in Music History from Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, John Lennon, Steely Dan, The Police, Def Leppard and so many others, including Led Zeppelin! This LP Record Set was cleaned using the

VPI HW-16.5 VACUUM TUBE CLEANER!

The HW-16.5 is the standard in record cleaning machines, neither its build quality nor its cleaning power has ever been surpassed! Its high-torque, 18 RPM turntable motor is capable of standing the pressure of heavy scrubbing during long cleaning sessions, and its 35-second cleaning cycle makes quick work out of even the dirtiest records! The improved 16.5 model has the new self-aligning vacuum suction tube for even more accurate cleaning! I now clean all of my records that are NOT Factory Sealed with the VPI, then test listen to the vinyl, then clean the record again with the VPI. This baby costs me hundreds of dollars, but My Customers Deserve THE BEST!!!

GRADING SCALE

I use a Universal Grading System to describe the quality of the LP albums and 45 singles that I sell. I grade records under strong, diffused room light or discreet sunlight. I do not use stock photos for my ads; all of my scans are of the Item You See! You get no surprises from me!

NOTE: Please keep in mind that when I describe any LP, I am referring to its Original Year Of Release, NOT the year that the LP was printed! In many cases, the year that a given LP was printed is unknown. When in doubt, PLEASE ASK me! Thank You!

 All of my LP’s are stored upright in a SMOKE-FREE ENVIRONMENT! 

• SS Mint (M): Album is New, Still Sealed and has never been played.
• Mint (M): The vinyl has no noticeable scratches, fingerprints or defects and looks like it has never been played, although there may be use at the spindle hole. The cover has no noticeable wear or defects. There may be very slight curling of the right side corners of the cover due to shrink wrap pressure. May still have it’s original shrink wrap. MINT does not mean "perfect".
• Near Mint (NM): Almost Mint vinyl with perhaps a few visual imperfections that should not affect the sound of the record. Perhaps a small amount of static can be heard on a few areas. Cover is nice looking with little or no ring wear and may still have its original shrink wrap.
• VG++: Vinyl has some signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks, scuffs or scratches which will not distract significantly from the sound, some audible static, some snaps or pops but no stalls or skips unless listed. Cover may have some signs of wear, perhaps some ringwear but is still in nice collectible condition, solid with no cuts,holes or splits unless listed, may have edge repairs.
• VG+: Played often with moderate surface wear, marks, scuffs or scratches, and some moderate noise, static, pops or skips - still plays well with increased areas of pops and static. Cover may have significant overall wear and ring wear, repaired edges or spine, may have cuts/holes/cut corners.
• VG: Overall wear, more noisy sound during quiet passages, a lot of static and many skips that require lifting the needle. Cover is well worn, usually with considerable ring wear. may have cuts, holes, cut corners. May have taped edges. The lowest grade.

In my opinion, the grade of “Mint” and the word “Mint” does not equal Perfection. The grade of Perfection does not exist, as far as I know. Different phono cartridges and stereo setups, condition of the needle and if the record is cleaned before playing (or not cleaned) affects the way a vinyl record sounds. You can look at a record with the naked eye and not see micro imperfections which might affect the music and the sound. There are just too many variables. I listen to records after cleaning them. If I do not hear skips or pops or snaps and I do not see noticeable scratches, then as far as I am concerned, that record is Mint. Be very careful not to compare my grading standards with those of others. I do not use Goldmine and to compare my grades to Goldmine is not really fair. Remember, it's always best to ask questions BEFORE bidding!
