First of all - why is this record in particular such a big deal? Known as "the hot mix", this Robert Ludwig mastered version of LED ZEPPELIN II is extremely rare because almost immediately, this album was remastered - due to complaints from the public that the needle was literally jumping off the record! Yes, the mix is so "hot" that lesser turntables could not even handle it. The records were fine, it turns out. Ludwig is such a sultan, he just created too much of a good thing.

THE RECORD SOUNDS DIFFERENT THAN THE LED ZEPPELIN II WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE.

Honestly?

This version leaps out of the speakers. It is intense, and at times, downright ferocious. 

It is hard to find these RL stamped LED ZEPPELIN II albums. A real rarity. Collector's item, indeed.


The vinyl is barely played, and actually looks unplayed! (The only reason we know it has been played is because of one or two extremely faint, hard-to-see marks near spindle hole.)

There is a small handful of VERY HARD TO SEE and VERY SUPERFICIAL HAIRLINE MARKS.

IT IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! Nicest Led Zeppelin II we've seen, period.


The jacket is another issue - it is solid, but worn in every way. Ring, shelf wear...etc., etc.

But it is not difficult to come across nice LED ZEPPELIN II jackets. That is not what this auction is about.

You are bidding on a totally GORGEOUS copy of vinyl that

cannot be heard unless you are listening to this very scarce version.
