Description
LED ZEPPELIN II An Original 1841 Broadway Label, 'RL' Mastered,
'Monarch' Pressing LP!!
The LP and Cover are both carefully graded VG+ with only light
overall wear. The LP is pressed on nice, thick Vinyl as was common
in 1969 so despite a mere Visual Grade between VG and VG+, mostly
due to a light scuff on Side 2, the LP Play Grades a clear VG+.
As I've Play Graded this through, I've noted the quietest sections and
any visible scuffs or marks. It plays with only light background noise
and the occasional light pop or tick. For the most part this grades
close to Excellent or VG++. There are small sections, only during the
quietest parts of 'Thank You' or 'Moby Dick', where the grade leans
closer to VG. The careful Overall Play Grade is a clear VG+.
I've found 7 of these 'RL' Mastered LZ 2's over the years and this one
is clearly the best I've seen.
This is Mastered by Bob Ludwig of Sterling Sound Mastering and
has absolutely awesome sound quality! His initials 'RL' are inscribed
in the deadwax on both sides next to the Sterling Sound 'SS' insignia.
Even more, this is pressed at Monarch Pressing, considered the best
quality pressing of this original LP. This is the one that is held high
in Audiophile circles as the 'holy grail' of Led Zeppelin LPs.
The detail and clarity on this LP are amazing. The Bass, Kick Drum, and
Floor Toms are powerful and present. The varied Guitar Tones whether
Acoustic or Electric have a presence and intensity that will surprise you
with their realism, same with the Vocals, placed perfectly between the
speakers, Hello. I used to have an MFSL Half Speed pressing of this title
a few years back but after comparing them I happily sold it.
This is considered by many including myself, to be one of the very best
sounding LP's of all time!
