LED ZEPPELIN IIPLUMB ATLANTIC LABEL
ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING 1969 STEREO
588198
SIDE ONE MATRIX 588 198 A 2 SIDE TWO MATRIX 588 198 B2
Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin, released in 1969 on the iconic Atlantic Label, which makes this a rare Plumb/Red First Pressing of this fabulous and increasingly saught after record, which is in Excellent Plus condition. These are the most desired and highly collectable Pressings and being on the Plumb Label, dates the record to 1969 and a First Press, along with its Matrix, Mother & Stamper Codes. This Plumb & Crimson label and its heavy-weight vinyl must not be confused with the slightly later Orange & Green label releases.
The usual 'hidden' codes or Matrices are evident in the vinyl run-offs on both sides, with, on Side One, 588 198 A 2 in evidence, followed by '1' '1' and then 'JP'. Is this a reference to Jimmy Page?! In my experience the Led Zeppelin 'personalisation' in the 'run-offs' are very evident in the First Presses or First Runs and the 'JP' could be a reference to Jimmy Page, as 'the boss'?! On Side Two there is, 588 198 followed by B 2 and then 3. Leaving out the possible 'JP' link, these codes relate to the calaloue number of '588 198', which identify the release and issue and are found on the labels and on the sleeve or cover. The '1' '1' suggests First Mother and the '3' Stamper No 3. Mothers are the main dye or press, that the Stampers are hewn from and Stampers do their job and 'Stamp' the vinyl into shape. Duringa record's press-run, there are a number of Mothers, which are stainless steel and heavy duty, but many Stampers, which are an acetate, with a copper and stainless steel coating and many Stampers are used. This record has Number 1 Mothers and Number 3 Stamper, so a low first pressing.
The condition is excellent plus - lovely condition and has that super-heavy weight vinyl, synonimous of the 1960's and Atlantic Records. The inner white sleeve is crisp and undamaged, with its Patent Number and the outer sleeve or cover is in excellent condition. There is no writing, staining or marking on any of the package.
A nice, early 1969, original pressing of this rare collector's record and higgly collectable record.
I do not sell outside of the UK. Postage is quoted in the UK and for the UK only. It is based on a sale of up to £46.00, but if the item should sell for more, then postage would be First Class Signed For & Tracked. This would be around £6.50, but please check and we will agree a price above the £4.50 quoted for Second Class Recorded & Packaging.
Many thanks. Oh, grading, is visual and by ear and by experience, but I do pay attention to The Record Collector's Guide, but, please, use this as a guide only, as I find it over-grades and can be confusing, too!
Good luck with the bidding.
