... mega-rare German Recordclub LP with Bob Ludwig Hotmix – “RL” Initials in Trail-off Vinyl !!
rare German limited edition recordclub vinyl LP released on red/green ATLANTIC label with “1841 Broadway, New York, N.Y.” address and catalognumber H800/5. On the labels it states “Sonderauflage für den Deutschen Schallplatten-Club” which translates into „Special Edition for the German Record Club” …
Laminated cover is not a foldout, and features unique artwort which can only be found with the German record club pressing. Even here in Germany it is now extremely hard to find, and has always been a very rare find in decent condition... see photos.
Apart from the unique cover and labels, another main interest lies of course in the fact that this edition features the legendary Bob Ludwig “hot mix”, done by Robert Ludwig. His initials "RL" are etched ( HAND CARVED) in the dead wax on side one and vinyl has the narrower dead wax compared to later pressings. Note that with German first pressings the RL never appeared on both sides, as was done on US first pressings. Cover and vinyl all in pristine NEARMINT/MINT condition with clean labels and no spindlemarks – absolutely perfect! Vinyl looks unplayed... Best copy I have seen in many years… Collectors and audiophiles will know how impossible it is to find perfect copies of this album.
Note also, that this edition was sold only to members of the German recordclub which mainly focused its business on classical music or German folk music. Thus they only had very few rock titles in their repertoire, and given the limited demand for rock LPs from their members, they only pressed tiny quantities, plus unsold records were later typically destroyed. This is the reason why you hardly ever find a copy of this version. Furthermore collectors and audiophles will know that these Led Zep records had mostly been to a lot of wild parties at the time, and are usually found rather worn out, and often unplayable... this copy is NOT and is absolutely perfect, just absolutely awesome.
