Okay, here goes, up for sale is what I believe to be a 1st round UK pressing of Led Zeppelin's third album released on Atlantic De Luxe 2401 002 Polydor label (E. J. Day group) which was made in London, England (UK) with the Peter Grant credit and originally purchased in London, England in 1970. How do I know this you may ask?, because I was lucky enough to purchase this album and many others in my local area from a British man's estate sale which he bought during his time "at university" as the Britts' say when attending college. He was in the right place at the right time for some incredible music of the era (lucky me!). Enough about that, you'll just have to take my word for it but the devil will be in the details of the album itself. First off, side one runout has the quote "Do What Thou Wilt" and side two has the quote "So Mote It Be". Side one has A-5, Side two has B-5. My research has determined that the two quotes were present only on the original UK 1st round of pressings and were alternated as to which quote appeared on what side based on which run, hence the quotes could be on either or even both sides, separately or together, adding more to the mystery behind it. The quotes were from Aleister Crowley and placed there by Jimmy Page due to his obsession with black magic. Second pressings and later ones did not include the quotes in the runout area. (If you know differently, please inform me.)
As for the album condition, I would describe as very good to excellent for it's age (but not mint) looking like it had barely been played, it is nice and flat and I could only find one light scratch on side one tracks 1 & 2 and side two track 1. I attempted to photograph as best as possible to show album condition, it is very clean, I examined it in reflective daylight to the best of my abilities, I'm calling it very good to be accurate. It has the original paper sleeve lined in plastic and stamped "Made in England". The gatefold jacket is in very good condition for it's age, a tinge yellowed, the kaleidoscope wheel is intact and working well, the original glue on the front half of the jacket which houses the wheel has aged and separated but it does not affect the functioning of the wheel (see pictures), I would rather not attempt to re-glue it. The back half of the jacket glue is intact and not separated. Overall the jacket is in very good condition in my opinion, I am not going to attempt to clean it in any way as that could affect the surface of the jacket. I am also not going to attempt to clean the album in any way as to not affect its current condition either.
