NOTES
This is a VERY RARE Transitional copy of Led Zeppelin’s third album. It has the original 1st press cover with stickers, one on the track list and the other on the back (see photos).
The labels are the green / orange but with no Warner logo and credits to Peter Grant and Kinney Music.
The Matrix on side one is the same as the original first press A-5, 2401002 with the addition of K50002 stamped in, it also has ‘Do what thou wilt’ on side one.
This is one for Collectors; I can’t remember seeing another one
NOTES ABOUT 1ST PRESS RED / MAROON VINYL
(Note the similarities)
Matrix numbers A5/B5 in The 1st issue fully-laminated gatefold sleeve with working wheel, printed and made in England by E. J. Day.
Run of wax has “Do what thou wilt” & “So mote it be”, also hand etched on Side One and Two respectively.
Later pressings followed with different Red/Maroon label composition where Peter Grant credit was removed.
The Cat. Number towards the right of the label says 2401002, later labels say 2401-002.
The Credit at the bottom of the label states -"Warner Bros Music Ltd" later labels say "Warner Bros Music".
(I HAVE GRADED STRICTLY BY THE RECORD COLLECTORS MAGAZINE GUIDE, SEE BELOW)
VINYL (VISUAL)
It looks virtually mint. There are no signs of any surface marks whatsoever on either side, this is a great example.
GRADED; EXCELLENT++
VINYL (PLAY GRADED) with headphones
It plays absolutely brilliant, there are NO skips, jumps or anything intrusive, I have played it as loud as I could and did not hear any distortion, it’s clear and bright, and I don’t think this has had much use at all. As with most vinyl you do get some static in the quiet moments but this is very minimal. This is a great example.
GRADED; EXCELLENT+
SLEEVE
This is a First issue fully laminated E J. Day Gatefold Sleeve which is in superb condition.
(See photos)
This is a transitional copy with the new record number being put on to this 1st press copy with stickers, one on the inside and one on the back.
I don’t think many survive without the wheel coming out or the laminate lifting but this one is superb, the wheel works perfectly and the laminate is fine.
It lays flat no curving as with most you find, and only a slight amount of yellowing at the edges.
There is absolutely NO graffiti or any stickers that shouldn’t be there, whatsoever.
The spine is excellent.
GRADED; EXCELLENT+
ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE
It is in very good condition, no rips or tears and minimal creasing, has patent number 1.125.555 & Made in England.
GRADED; VERY GOOD+
NEW POLY LINED SLEEVE
The record has been kept in a brand new poly lined sleeve
LABELS
Labels are the ATLANTIC Green/Orange.
Most green/orange has the Warner’s logo and also has Kinney Music Ltd, plus the outer writing starts
and ends in the Green section.
THIS ONE DOES NOT, no Warner’s logo and it has Kinney Music, (no Ltd) plus the outer writing starts and ends in the orange section.
Has the original first pressing "produced by Jimmy Page executive producer Peter Grant"
SIDE ONE has NO graffiti, NO rips NO tears or stickers. (See photo)
SIDE TWO, has NO graffiti, NO rips NO tears or stickers. (See photo)
SIDE ONE GRADED; EXCELLENT
SIDE TWO GRADED; EXCELLENT

All my records are graded using the
Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide
MINT:
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks
or deterioration in sound quality.
The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.
EXCELLENT:
The record shows some signs of having been played,
but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD:
The record has obviously been played many times,
but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,
despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD:
The record has been played so much
that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated,
perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
The cover and contents suffer from folding,
scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR:
The record is still just playable but it has not been cared for properly
and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
