Up for auction here is Led Zeppelin III / Led zeppelin 3 , VERY EARLY UK press on vinyl
On Atlantic, PLUM label, ref Atlantic 2401-002 Matrices are A5/B7 - earliest are A5/B5 because Jimmy Page binned all earlier presses as he wasn't happy ....this is still VERY VERY early and a phenomenal sound. The only difference between this and the very first are the 'Peter Grant' production credits and the missing hyphen. Run off grooves have hand etched on side 1 "Do what thou wilt" and on side B "So Mote It be" so Alistair Crowley references still there
The record:- EX+!!! Visually, its flawless, test played using a Technics 1210 and Bose Speakers...the audio is just unbelievable. Side 1: Slight crackle on the intro to side 1 ...other than that nothing before a very slight crackle on the intro to Since Ive Been Loving You Side 2: Pretty flawless
The labels: Original PLUM Atlantic labels, free from writing or marks, just a tiny amount of spindle-wear...this has seen very very little turntable time
The sound: Just Gorgeous
The sleeve: Original Gatefold - EX, Brass ring centre (for the spinning wheel) has slightly dented the back inner of the gatefold ...find one that hasnt...sleeve is very slightly yellowed with age. NO splits or tears, a little shelf wear to top and bottom spines, side spine slightly angled but still in great shape and very readable (see pictures) Spinning wheel intact. When you open the gatefold, back side is slightly creased, photos should pick this up

I use the Record Collector Grading Criteria which is as follows: Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as sealed or unplayed should be Mint. Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing. Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
