Description
Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin III
Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin III.
Early red/plum UK Atlantic Records stereo LP, 2401 002.
A second press but retaining the earliest known A5/B5 matrix. Has no Peter Grant credit to label but does have the error "Celebration" rather than "Celebration Day" to label. There is also a hyphen in the catalogue number 2401-002 on the labels which the first pressing does not have.
Matrix Information: 2401002 A - 5 1 4 ? ? Do what thou wilt / 2401002 B - 5 1 5 1 7 So mote it be (Note that I cannot quite make out the two digits represented by question marks).
Visually near EX, glossy and clean but one or two light scuff marks and very gentle scratches. Generally appears a well looked after LP. Play grades a conservative VG plus. The A side is actually a strong EX with barely any background noise noticeable. The B side displays an occasional soft isolated tick and very low level crackle at some quieter spots. These instances are infrequent and unobtrusive and much of this side also plays EX. There are no loud or consecutive ticks.
Notably this is a great recording, full of punch and clarity, sounds really great.
Labels are clean and undefaced and still have a good unrubbed lustre.
Plain inner sleeve.
External laminated gatefold sleeve with fully functioning rotating wheel is near EX. Still very fresh and bright with minimal wear. There is some fingernail type hairline scraping near the rotating wheel notch, and just above this a fairly unobtrusive and small patch of residue from a removed sticker. Rear panel has fractional storage contact rubbing. Overall a really well preserved example however. Notably the edges and spine are all particularly well preserved, the entry side is crisp and unfeathered and the tips are still square.
