Description

LED ZEPPELIN IV 1971 RARE v.6 UK VINYL  LP RED/PLUM, inverted feather, A3/B4
An exact match with this listing on Disocogs - release/4598377-Led-Zeppelin-Untitled - which  states:
Plum' Atlantic pressing on red/white/plum label.
This is the 6th (of 8) known 'plum' label variants. Specific to this label variant are:
'Marketed by Polydor Records Limited' at 6 o'clock on labels.
'Under license from Atlantic Recording Corp.' in white area under ATLANTIC on left side.
LED ZEPPELIN is printed above spindle hole, the same as Variation 4,
Catalogue number at 3 o'clock above circular Atlantic logo reads 'deluxe 2401012'
There is no Peter Grant credit, and song publishing credits are: Kinney Music Ltd./Superhype Music Inc.
Side 2 has the following errors: 'Misty Mountain Hop' is misspelt 'Misty Mountain Top'. The feather at 2 o'clock is upside down.
This upside down feather is specific to this label variant and the very first label only, as it was corrected on Variants 2 and 4, but turns up again on Variant 3, 6 (This one) and on Variant 7, and is corrected again on Variant 8 which is the last pressing on the 'plum' label.

ABOUT THIS COPY:
Matrix / Runout (A-side, stamped, variant 1): 2401012 ** A//3 Matrix / Runout (B-side, stamped, variant 1): 2401012 B//4
The gatefold sleeve has a only a little wear and tear, on spine, around edges etc. there is a label removal mark on front -very nice inside gatefold. - see photos
Original inner with stairway to heaven lyrics one side is there (often not), but is a bit shabby - has small splits on sides and has been taped up, also has writing one side - it is a little flimsy from age!
Labels look great and have no rips or pen marks
Vinyl has many signs of past usage, lots of surface marks , light hairlines , from its past - I tried to show some in photos so take a look. There are a couple of scratches side 2 that are obvious, they are not severe scratches though and do not cause any issues , no jumps on playback , maybe a couple of clicks.
Playback is good  - Quiet bits are crackly as you would expect  - Side one, 2 pops on STH, a few ticks between track 1/2. Side 2 still has that familiar crackle surfacing occasionally , however the powerful bits still sound great! and a couple of ticks... A good listen overall - listen to the clip as it is a fair indicator.
So, not a perfect copy by any stretch but a RARE var. 6 with the inverted feather and 'TOP' error,  that has a solid gatefold sleeve, is complete and playable!
Please view all the photos..and the clip. I am starting with a reasonable bid price; before bids come in though there is a buy it now option akin to the recent median prices achieved, for this release in this condition (Discogs average overall for v.6 is £123 currently)
