Description

Here for auction is a lovely example of the rare fourth album by LED ZEPPELIN simply titled "LED ZEPPELIN IV", Catalogue Number 2401042. This is an ORIGINAL 1971 STEREO UK FIRST PRESSING on the PLUM / ORANGE ATLANTIC LABEL with the EARLIEST A//3, B//3 Matrix Numbers, and PECKO DUCK and PORKY etched in the dead wax. EXTREMELY RARE TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION!!! 

 

The fragile gatefold SLEEVE is in VERY GOOD CONDITION showing just light rubbing to edges and corners. The front and rear covers are EXCELLENT, as is the opening gatefold spread. There is virtually NO CREASING!! The SPINE is in SOLID CONDITION showing just a couple of light scuffs. There are absolutely NO rips, stickers or writing!!

Overall a VERY PRESENTABLE SLEEVE!!

 

The VINYL retains much of its ORIGINAL LUSTRE and sits flat and true on the turntable. It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION with just a few light surface marks which do not affect play. There is an area on Side 1 (about 1 square inch) where the glossy finish has become matt/dulled. I’m not sure if this is a pressing defect or not. The BEAUTIFUL PLUM/ORANGE LABELS are also EXCELLENT with just a few light spindle marks evident.

A critical play-grading on my REGA turntable revealed why these STEREO FIRST PRESSINGS are so SOUGHT AFTER. Both sides play SUPERBLY with ALL FREQUENCIES CLEAR AND SHARP. There are NO jumps or loud pops, just the odd light click and occasional light crackle (never intrusive).

 

Complete with the ORIGINAL inner sleeve with the Stairway to Heaven lyrics, which has NO CREASES, just the usual splits along the bottom edge and sides.

 

This record is from my own personal collection. I take a lot of care when advertising records - and will NOT overgrade!! I only sell records that I would be happy to receive myself. Please check out my 100% POSITIVE feedback.
