Led Zeppelin IV 1971 UK original vinyl album on the Atlantic plum label, catalogue number 2401012 (stereo)
The numbers and letters stamped on the vinyl are:- Side 1: 2401012 (B//** etched out correction) A//3 1 2 1 6 PECKO DUCK (words are hand etched) Side 2: 2401012 B//3 1 2 5 PORKY (words are hand etched)
This is a heavy vinyl and it is not warped. When viewed under a bright light I can see a few light surface scratches on both sides - most are caused by bag movement, but there may be one of two small superficial stylus scratches on each side. I cannot feel any of them with light fingertip touch. The record appears to have been quite lightly played and the surfaces still look bright and glossy. The record plays very clearly with just a little surface sound where it can be heard and an occassional light tick - overall the audio is brilliant. There are no sticks, no skips, no jumps and very little lessening of the sound quality compared to new.
The track titles can be seen on the label photographs. The labels have some light spindle lines, no writing, no damage. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE VERSION WITH THE MISPRINTED TRACK 1 TITLE ON SIDE 2 WHICH READS 'MISTY MOUNTAIN TOP' (THE INNER SLEEVE READS CORRECTLY 'MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP').
The cover is a gatefold type. It does not have any laminate or coating. It is in generally excellent condition with just minor seam tip, corner tip and very slight surface rub wear, but nothing much at all. There are vague hints of age related light discolouration and some small indents at the open edge. The centre piece is almost as new, just a few very tiny scuffs.
The spine is square with well formed edges, in generally excellent condition except for a little rub wear on the top 4 cms.
The original inner sleeve is the least attractive part of this album. It has been taped all along the bottom seam and cut away at the top edge so would probably only grade 'good' in 'Record Collector' terms, but the side seams are intact as is all the printing and text, with no other significant marks or damage - please see photograph.
I have checked the Record Collector grading system and I would say that the gatefold is near 'excellent', the record is visually near 'excellent' and the audio is at least near 'excellent' or maybe a full 'excellent'.
I have described this as carefully and honestly as possible, but it is a no return item so please bid accordingly.
It will be packed in a strong record mailing box with two pieces of card inside for further protection.
