LED ZEPPELIN IV
Matrix : 2401012 A//3 Corrected matrix PECKO DUCK - B//4 PORKY
Label Variation - Plum A3/B4 Misty Mountain Hop - Inverted Feather
Led Zeppelin IV is known to have a number of label variations, the most obvious is the stickered production credits label. The first is the A3/B3 inverted feather and then the 2nd is the corrected feather label with the Led Zeppelin text at the bottom, both have the Peter Grant credit. Then we move to the stickered credit change variation and on to the most common A3/B3 and A3/B4 Misty Mountain Top label error. The style changes further here with the band name moving to the top and the credit change permanently printed on the label. Some feathers are also inverted on these presses. Record Collector states that the 5th and final plum press has the correct Hop name change and both feathers the correct way up. This is not however the case, as with all other variations a handful were printed with the feather inverted. We have seen a couple over the years but this is a genuine rare late variation.
The record in Very Good condition. The vinyl has a superb gloss, there is no whitening, just a couple of very light marks and a few wispy hairlines on both sides. The label has a small name but the colours are vivid and the white is extremely bright. The black text is sharp and there is only the very slightest spindle wear.
The original flipback dark brown printed inner sleeve has taped edges but it is still solid and bright.

When played the record sits completely flat on the turntable. The sound is extremely bold, very bassy and vibrant with some moments of light background hiss but no loud crackle and certainly no jumps or skips. It plays well throughout.

The matt gatefold sleeve is in Excellent condition. This is a rare superb sleeve. The sleeve is solid, the colours are bright and the edges are firm. The only tiny detail is the slightest corner wear and a couple of very faint indentations on the back. The inside is like new and the spine is perfect.  625 (GS 6.9.7 (625))
