Notes: Led Zeppelin’s 4th album is arguably their greatest, with seminal works including Black Dog, Rock And Roll, When The Levee Breaks and of course, Stairway To Heaven. Officially the album is untitled, but is widely known by various monikers, including Led Zeppelin IV or 4, Four Symbols. Whatever it’s known as, it’s high on any rare record collector’s list of desirable albums, as long as it’s on the Atlantic ‘red/plum’ label. This is a first pressing vinyl A3/B3 but has the second version label, the first having ‘Led Zeppelin’ in the lower half.

Description:

Vinyl:

 Thickly pressed quality vinyl, you only find with the early red/plum labels. This one looks and sounds superb, still has that glossy new look.

It is excellent. When you look at it in normal light it looks spotless (MINT), it is only when you angle it to a strong light you can see very light hairline marks caused by the sleeve. It plays absolutely brilliantly, it reaches all the notes high and low, I played it as loud as I could and there was NO distortion, the sound is fantastic all the way through (please CLICK HERE to listen to Stairway to Heaven and Going to California), there is a slight amount of static in the run in’s and run offs, could probably do with a professional clean. There are NO skips, NO jumps or anything else intrusive, it’s clear and vibrant.

Sleeve:

This iconic sleeve is in a great condition for one of these as most are torn, squashed or defaced because these early covers are not laminated and they suffered badly as with Led Zep II.

It has been well looked after and is very clean, been kept in a plastic sleeve (as with all my vinyl) this one has only minimal wear to the edges & corners.

There is a signature on the back (see photo) but NO creases, NO tears, see photos

The spine has only minimal wear.

Inner sleeve;

The original textured dark grey inner song sheet is in a great condition; it has only one small tear to the opening edge and the usual side split about 1cm but only on one side, the other side is fine. Because it is left empty it is nice and flat, clean and unspoilt.

   GRADED; EXCELLENT

 The vinyl is housed in a new poly lined sleeve.

Labels:

The labels are the sensational RED/PLUM Atlantic, with the ‘Led Zeppelin’ in the top half and with the Kinney Music Ltd/Superhype Music.

The middle white stripe is as clean as you’ll get, NO finger marks or any other marks.  

Side One is free from any graffiti or any other marks, it is as clean as you can get, the same for side two, it is as clean as you could get apart from a signature. There are NO SIGNS of any spindle traces.

HOW IT WILL BE SENT

I always send out records very secure. The vinyl is taken out of the sleeve and then the cover and vinyl are placed in a plastic sleeve. It is then wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a strong album mailer (DEFENDA MUSIC MAX or CRUCIFORM TYPE) plus an extra cardboard stiffener. It will be secured with parcel and fragile tape.

RETURNS

I will take returns in the unlikely event I have missed something or the description is wrong in anyway and you’re not happy with your purchase please contact me first (before you leave feedback) I WILL sort it out and I WILL of course make a REFUND. The item has to be returned within 7 days of you receiving it in the same condition it was sent out. I will refund the cost of the item plus your original postage, but the buyer pays for the return postage. I do try my best to be as accurate as possible and would never miss-lead you in anyway.

I am an enthusiast in vinyl and have been collecting since the early 70’s; it is one of my hobbies and not my living. I always try my hardest to get my description correct and always put on as many photos as I can, the good and bad bits so you can see everything in detail. I also try and put on any Biography’s I can as sometimes they can be very useful information. I always play through the entire album before I list it and often record it to a blog so you can listen before you bid. Nearly all of the records I put onto eBay are at least excellent, but sometimes I will put ones that are a lower grade if they are rare or collectable. I use the Record Collectors Grading Guide to grade my vinyl. I always offer a refund if I have missed something you’re not happy with. I normally post on Monday’s and Wednesday’s so it could be posted next day or at the most 3 days from when I receive payment. As for payment I think that 4 to 5 days after you have won should be long enough, but if you need longer please contact me before you bid. MINT:
The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks
or deterioration in sound quality.
The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.
Records advertised as sealed or un-played should be mint.
EXCELLENT:
The record shows some signs of having been played,
but there is very little lessening in sound quality.
The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD:
The record has obviously been played many times,
but displays no major deterioration in sound quality,
despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.
Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items,
without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD:
The record has been played so much
that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated,
perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
The cover and contents suffer from folding,
scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR:
The record is still just playable but it has not been cared for properly 
and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. 
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
