LAUDED AT THE TIME as a masterpiece - a hugely ambitious work spreading the bands musical wings to new deeper places bathing in light, shade, ambient tones and knock out riffs.

This maturity was spearheaded by a number of key tracks 'Black Dog', 'Rock And Roll', 'When The Levee Breaks' and 'The Battle Of Evermore'. All were a triumph of cold emotion and outer body experience anchored to this world by crunching brutal riffs and folky Wicker Man-like moods. Perhaps the piece de resistance must surely be 'Stairway To Heaven'. But that would diminish the impact of 'When The Levee Breaks' a track effectively built upon a main guitar riff allowing Bonham to finally break open the shell with his trademark kick drum.
