Description
LED ZEPPELIN IV 1st PRESS, 1971
Rare plum version as Peter Grant had been credited on the labels as executive producer but the band wasn't happy so the credit was removed. However Atlantic had a few of the original labels remaining so rather than bin them, they decided to use them up and just put stickers over the offending credits. This is that version.
Original vinyl on UK first press Atlantic 2401012
Variant 4 with:
'Plum' Atlantic pressing on red/white/plum label.
Specific to this label are:
'Marketed by Polydor Records Limited' at 6 o'clock on labels.
'Under license from Atlantic Recording Corp.' in the Orange section. above the White Strip
Led Zeppelin is Stickered to top half, Produced by Jimmy Page and publisher credits stickered over the Peter Grant credit to the lower half. This lower sticker has been removed on side 1 so the original credits can be seen with a little residue.
Catalogue number at 3 o'clock above circular Atlantic logo reads 'deluxe 2401012'
Porky / Pecko Duck to dead wax, A3 / B4 matricies
Vinyl is marked and plays: side 1 with heavy crackle and some heavy clicks at start and end of the side. No skips.
Side 2 much better; some crackle but lots nice and crisp too.
Nice clean labels. Inner has fixed splits to edges and some loss. See photos.
The sleeve is also fixed and ragged but still solid, heavy wear to spine. See the photos for details.
So overall not the best copy you'll find, but also one with no skips and a really rare and interesting label. Please only bid if you understand the condition, hence no returns.
