Description
Led Zeppelin lp, IV, UK issue on Atlantic 1971. Plum/red label, deluxe 2401012, matrix A3/B4. 'Pecko Duck' and 'Porky' scratched in run-out grooves, 'Under license..' text in white stripe & 'Kinney Music/ Superhype' credits on label. This pressing has the corrected first side's matrix numbers. Instead of the correct, "- A - 3", the side 1 matrix originally ended with "- B - 1"! This was spotted by Atlantic and was quickly over stamped with 'XX' and the correct ending "- A - 3" was stamped to the immediate right, you can still just about see the incorrect stamping. This matrix is only on the very first records made, most likely even before the later stickered copies.
The vinyl is a strong vg+; many would probably class it vg++. It has a fantastic gloss and there are only a few very light & faint hairlines visible when tilting it under a naked light bulb. Playback is ex.
Inner sleeve is vg+; looks much better but has a clean 3 inch split in middle of bottom seam.
Gatefold outer sleeve vg+. Would be much better (as only has very very light corner & shelf wear) but has spot of black paint in middle of top seam (can be seen in pictures).
