Description

LED ZEPPELIN IV (4)  - 'Red & Plum Atlantic Deluxe 2401012 Label'

VERY VERY RARE !!! UK 1971 1st Press LP on the Original ATLANTIC Red & Plum Label

Complete with Matrix's A//3  & B//3  and with the all essential 'PECKO DUCK' & 'PORKY' Hand etched in the Run-out Grooves and Crossed Out Matrix on Side 1 also with the ''Superhype'' Publishing Credit on Labels

Important Notice !!! I have been asked a Question today (Wednesday 11/2 ) from the USA

'WHAT ARE THE 2 STICKERS ON THE LABELS AT TOP AND BOTTOM?

The 2 stickers on labels both sides, (Please note: That these were put on during the original pressing process at the factory back in 1971.) That much I know as I have owned this copy since 1971 - The top label has 'LED ZEPPELIN' in bold black capital letters - The bottom label has 'Kinney Music Ltd/Superhype Music Inc. Produced By Jimmy Page'  I have noticed on Ebay etc that others  for sale of this identity have the 'LED ZEPPELIN' & Kinney Music etc. Are already printed as a standard part of the label. I'm  assuming, I could be wrong, that I may have something a bit special and much Rarer and of an earlier pressing than those that are selling usually.  As I only collect Vinyl as a hobby over the last 40 years and I'm no way any sort of expert - I would appreciate if there are any Vinyl experts out there especially on the 'Original early Atlantic Plum/Red  Zeppelin labels' who could enlighten me on why this has occurred during the production process I would be very grateful... Thanks  Pete (email via Ebay)

Original Classic Iconic 8-Track Vinyl LP in the Matt Gatefold Picture Sleeve - With the 1971 UK Early 1st Pressing  on the ATLANTIC  Record Label Cat. No.: 2401012 - With the Original printed soft card Lyric & Track List Inner Sleeve .

The Vinyl: Shows some visible spindle wear but labels are still in a crisp and clean unmarked condition - Still has all it's Original lustre and Jet black glossy sheen - On the vinyl surfaces it shows some superficial faint fine hairline surface traces that don't in anyway affect or interfere with the SUPERB!!! rich clear audio playback from this very early pressing - There are No annoying Skips,Jumps or Repeats during playback assessment recently - I would rate it as Excellent on the vinyl performance - If I'm going to be ultra critical on observation of the playback  you do get the occasional minimal slight crackle or click for a split second between the quieter track groove intros then it fades away and is not then noticable - Hardly worth mentioning but I want to be as accurate as possible on assessment! - But overall both sides 1 & 2 are Fantastic and un-interrupted with no other distortion to mention

The Cover: Overall shows approx. 90-95% is fully intact - If 100% is mint (perfect)

Some negligible wear with minimal edge ware and shows some minor areas of surface colour lifting on the back of the matt coloured cover also the start of some ringwear appearing again on the back of cover with a little corner  bumping which has been obtained during the storage process over the last 38 years against other Albums - Overall it's a Superb looking copy which I would grade to at least an Excellent in condition - Crisp and clean and still showing mostly all it's original vibrant colours - With NO other obvious visible marks, stains, pen ink or tears to be seen

Has been kept in Excellent condition due to the plastic cover protection on Album for all of it's life

The Spine: Shows that it's still very much all intact - Clean original unblemished square shape

The Inner Sleeve: Has a little wear and tear to it and is just impossible to keep intact (It seems in most every case that this original manufactured inner sleeve just deteriorates through the aging process and seems to generally start to fall apart ) This one has a 8cm/4 inch sellotaped tear repair which happened many years ago that is along the top right hand corner on the lyric side of the inner cover also at some time it looks like it had sellotape around the edges to prevent it from tearing but has all come off over the years during storage process but all the edges seem to be basically intact and together (see close up photos in the gallery)
