Led Zeppelin’s second powerhouse of an album, catalogue No. 588198 on the Atlantic Red/Plum label. The 2nd UK PRESS matrix numbers are A6 and B4 with some crossed out stampers on side 2. An very nice example of this original 1969 UK PRESSING. As with all these original UK RED/PLUM pressings, the power they got into those grooves is astonishing ! So much better than the lifeless re-issues on the orange/green labels from other parts of the globe, including the UK. This recording has a tremendous power and presence that just surges out of the speakers and hits you like the Hammer Of The Gods !! Play it at number 11 and hear why its one of the best albums ever made by any band anywhere !! The almost PRISTINE, UNMARKED vinyl has a MIRROR LIKE SHEEN !! There are only one or two clicks on the entire record but some crackles in the quietest sections. It plays wonderfully with ABSOLUTELY NO DISTORTION from groove wear. The sonic assault of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ with THAT RIFF, the floor shaking thunder of John Bonham’s drums, and THOSE VOCALS !! The sheer awesome power of ‘Heartbreaker’ and the semi acoustic beauty of ‘Thank You’ and ‘Ramble On’, really is something special when you hear it on these early UK pressings !! They all come pounding out at you !! Due to the fantastic audio quality the vinyl should grade as near mint but as there are some crackles I will grade it as EXCELLENT-. The ORIGINAL E.J. Day sleeve is in fine order also, with barely any wear to the edges. It does have a scratch on the front which can be seen in the picture. This I would grade also as EX-. The labels are as vibrant as they were in 69’ with only one spindle mark. This record has had only light play. The record comes with its poly lined ORIGINAL INNER SLEEVE which has some age discolouration. A very nice example of this seminal album !!
