LED ZEPPELIN “Physical Graffiti” 1975 UK 1st PRESS NM A1/B4/C1/D1, NO WB LOGO, TOP COPY, FANTASTIC AUDIO

LED ZEPPELIN
Physical Graffiti

ORIGINAL UK SWAN SONG (SSK 89400) FIRST PRESSING (February 1975) OF LED ZEPPELIN'S OUTSTANDING DOUBLE LP SET "Physical Graffiti" IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION - THIS COPY HAS POSSIBLY NEVER BEEN PLAYED (or been carefully played very little) AS THERE ARE NO SPINDLE TRACES ON THE LABELS AND THE VINYL SURFACES ARE PRACTICALLY UNMARKED AND SHINE LIKE NEW (incredibly rare to find like this as the thick card inner sleeves are very unkind and normally mark to vinyl surfaces heavily, but here the original owner had the foresight to places the records in two new anti-static sleeves)
THE AUDIO DELIVERY IS SENSATIONAL THROUGHOUT AND BOTH LPs PLAY PRETTY MUCH FLAWLESSLY ON MY SYSTEM - AT A VERY LOUD VOLUME!! - FANTASTIC COPY

THE RECORDS HAVE THE FIRST ISSUE SWAN SONG LABELS (with "Made in UK' text and no WB log)
MATRIX NUMBERS: SSK 89400 A1 / SSK 89400 B4 / SSK 89400 C1 / SSK 89400 D1 (the lowest (and rarest) set issued for this first pressing)
AND ARE HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL BOX SLEEVE
COMPLETE WITH THE TWO PICTURE INNER SLEEVES
AND GATEFOLD ‘SLIP’ INSERT (for all first issue criteria, see below)

FIRST ISSUE CRITERIA:
Box Cover: The outer cover is of a top loading ‘box’ construction of thick ridged card with the following text printed on the back, top centre:
SWAN SONG / 484 KINGS ROAD, LONDON SW10
Cullderstead Ltd., trading as Swan Song
A Swan Song/Atlantic recording distributed by WEA Records Ltd., ? & © 1975
The group name, record title and catalogue number run down the left hand side spine, viewed from the front, these are printed in RED.
Inner Slip Cover: The gatefold ‘slip’ insert credits “Gothic Print Finishers Ltd., London SE9 2EQ” as the printers, along with the Swan Song SSK 89400 catalogue number and the address “SWAN SONG, 484 KINGS ROAD, LONDON SW10”
Inner Sleeves: The Inner sleeves are printed on thick card with a natural untreated grey finish to the inside surfaces. They have SSK 89400/A and SSK 89400/B respectively on the back (bottom right corner) of each of the inners. Later issues were thinner card with a smooth finish to the inside.
Labels: The labels are the easiest identifying factors for an original UK 1st issue as they should be clearly marked “Made in UK” but most importantly have NO small circular WB (Warner Brothers) Logo at the end of the bottom rim text. The WB logo was introduced onto the label in mid 1975 just a few months after the release, so any label with the WB logo is not from the very first batch of pressings

Led Zeppelin returned from a nearly two-year hiatus in 1975 with Physical Graffiti, a sprawling, ambitious double album.
Zeppelin treat many of the songs on Physical Graffiti as forays into individual styles, only occasionally synthesising sounds, notably on the tense, Eastern-influenced "Kashmir."
With John Paul Jones' galloping keyboard, "Trampled Underfoot" ranks as their funkiest metallic grind, while "Houses of the Holy" is as effervescent as pre-Beatles pop and "Down by the Seaside" is the closest they've come to country. Even the heavier blues -- the 11-minute "In My Time of Dying," the tightly wound "Custard Pie," and the monstrous epic "The Rover" -- are subtly shaded, even if they're thunderously loud.
Most of these heavy rockers are isolated on the first album, with the second half of Physical Graffiti sounding a little like a scrap heap of experiments, jams, acoustic workouts, and neo-covers.
This may not be as consistent as the first platter, but its quirks are entirely welcome, not just because they encompass the mean, decadent "Sick Again," but the heartbreaking "Ten Years Gone" and the utterly charming acoustic rock & roll of "Boogie With Stu" and "Black Country Woman."
Yes, some of this could be labeled as filler, but like any great double album, its appeal lies in its great sprawl, since it captures elements of the band's personality rarely showcased elsewhere -- and even at its worst, Physical Graffiti towers above its hard rock peers of the mid-'70s.

Track Listing:
Side One: Custard Pie / Rover / In My Time Of Dying
Side Two: Houses Of The Holy / Trampled Underfoot / Kashmir
Side Three: In The Light / Bron-y-Aur Stomp / Down By The Seaside / Ten Years Gone
Side Four: Night Flight / Wanton Song / Boogie With Stu / Black Country Woman / Sick Again

LABELS: MINT - The matt and grooved labels are clean, bright and unmarked with no evident spindles - this is set is either completely unplayed or has received only a few very careful plays only
VINYLS Visual: NEAR MINT - Both records retain their original deep, like-new, glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - there are some very, very light blemishes (on Side Four) but nothing like the ones normally found and these have no real audio consequence - both records play beautifully throughout
VINYLS Audio: The audio on this sprawling masterpiece is very, very strong with a crystal clear, sharp, rich and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) there are no scratches, no jumps/sticks, no surface noise and barely any clicks or pops (really hardly any, just a (very) few intermittent 'ticks' throughout all four sides with a couple (literally) of pops at the very end of 'Black Country Woman' - very minor and non-intrusive). The sound quality is simply sensational throughout and both LPs play to just about the highest possible standard with no groove-wear and no distortion (this set has hardly, if ever, been played). Very critically graded a strong NEAR MINT (record one) / EXCELLENT++ (record two) for audio this is a sensational copy and they really don't come much better than this - great stuff
SLEEVE: The box cover is in great condition - clean and unmarked with perfect undamaged die-cut 'windows' and the edges are sharp with just a little corner bumping (nothing major) and all the red text on the spine is clear, bold and unfaded - EXCELLENT++
INNER SLEEVES: Both inners are clean and unmarked with no splits to any of the edges (there is some rubbing to the central area opposite the opening edge on both inners but there are no splits) - EXCELLENT++
INNER SLIP: The gatefold inner slip is EXCELLENT - clean and unmarked with just some light age-related 'foxing spots towards the top edge
