Hi, I am Mike, now 50 – yes the big FIVE-O! Old enough to remember the golden era of original, high quality music, bands, artists.

Also records from the 1960s and 70s bought from the shops from new, I have been a music collector and enthusiast for over 37 years now. We all wish we could turn back the clock and buy those wonderful brand new records from the 60s and 70s, but alas, this is not possible; so I always try to offer the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. No vinyl/music lover really would choose to buy second-hand, but this is only way now to own these valuable, prized and elusive items now. I pride myself on offering a variety of genres to keep my site as interesting as possible. I will rarely offer any record that falls below a true Excellent grading, unless its of a certain rarity which will justify offering a lesser grade. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any potential bidder and collector. You may notice I only submit records sparingly on Ebay - on average ONEADAY, a couple more at weekends if time permits, hence the name - time rarely allows for more as I Play-Grade virtually every record I offer in their entirety, not just bits to guess a grade - visuals alone do not always tell a true or full story. I will mention any defects or flaws no matter how small that I notice to be fair as possible to any interested reader – I am very fussy and my buyers have the right to be too. Every record I offer, whether it be a common or rare item deserves the same respect as far as I am concerned and will be treated the same - just because an item is rare does not always mean its good. I get just as much pleasure offering a relatively common record in stunning near mint condition as the real rare items. All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with a digital camera or scanned - they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. What you see is what you get and scanned labels will give a more accurate representation of the genuine colour than flash photography where light is variable. I cannot guarantee one hundred percent is exact colour matching for covers - this depends on the lighting at the time and that is out of my control, but I feel sure most items will be very close to the actual real item. If any picture I take looks more flattering than the actual item for any reason, I will clearly state the fact in the advert and vice-versa. POSTING & PACKING: What You Get: I post all my UK items on FRIDAY every week, most will arrive Saturday to make signed-for delivery easier. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT mailers) with the record(s) REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with TWO massively thick stiffners for even extra protection and bubble wrap if deemed necessary. These stiffners are the thickest possible and custom supplied for ‘Oneadayrecords’ – these are NOT commercially available and you will not have seen thicker protection anywhere. The cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW heavy duty soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my Moth Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. Printed address labels are used as well as ‘Fragile’ tape for that extra professional touch for the packet. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. Customers requests or special needs for P&P will be respected if at all possible but NOT surface mail abroad. I never make profit on posting and offer probably the cheapest and safest shipping possible. Label Conditions: All four mint as new, I can see no spindle marks. An easy explanation for this: this amazing set was played just once and put to tape. The records then put into replacement polylined inners and then stored. As tempting as it was not to play it, quite frankly I could not resist it and better to check for unseen problems or pressing faults. Being a UK copy, there was little risk and this barely even run-in record failed to disappoint and plays with little unwanted.

Weight of this Record: 109 / 115 grams.

Country of Manufacture: England, so many of these were pressed in Germany and the early English pressings are not as common as you might think.

Rarity: The title itself is hardly scarce but early pressed UK copies are far harder to find. A high percentage of this landmark classic are found pressed and made in Germany and these pressings were indeed sold within the UK too. So not only an original British copy, this one has only been played twice after my play-grade and includes a fantastic cover with hardly any wear at all. This complex die-cut sleeve, to say the very least, is highly prone to all forms of wear and damage and is seldom seen with little. Apart from ultra light surface rub traces on the back and bottom edge, this cover is practically perfect and without any doubt the best one I have ever seen. I remember buying this album from new myself and even that had some creasing and mild rubbing – such was the fragility and intolerance of rough handling of this one. For edge wear, this has the least I have ever seen. This may be one of the very best copies of this far scarcer UK you will get offered this year.

Brief Info: A monumental landmark double set from the mighty Led Zeppelin and containing a vast array of varied music some of which must rate as their strongest ever. Issued nearly two years after Houses of the Holy this album topped both the UK and US album charts. Such was the astonishing strength of this album, their first issue on their own new Swan Song label, their entire back catalogue again re-entered the top 200 album charts simultaneously, a feat never to have happened before. With over 80 minutes of powerhouse blues rock and some superb acoustic numbers, this awesome set is simply too good to miss.

This Cover’s Potential for Wear & Damage: Very High Indeed: with forty-one, yes forty-one cut out windows (20 on the front and 21 on the back, some rectangular, some with arched tops) and a thick, box-like cover, this is vulnerable to all forms of wear. Many take knocks and this is seldom seen with perfect corners and this very ‘airy’ boxy cover (when empty expecially) becomes very delicate and flimsy. The fact the records enter within inners via the top makes even entering and removal a hazardous operation. And after a few times, this delicate cover becomes worn, creased and often damaged – the windows rarely survive fully intact with no burring or splits. With so many cut out sections (that are filled by various windows on the inners), this makes the cover far less solid and most become flat and tatty. Finding this with 41 practically pristine-edged windows is very difficult indeed, and to prove just how amazingly crisp and sharp these are on this one, I have taken the front and back pictures, empty of inners, with white card behind to emphasise the fact. I can state ALL edges on these windows are razor sharp and practically as new and that will not be said for too many available copies. Not only is the main cover one of the most delicate ever made, the two unlined inners (never that friendly for these records) are pristine mint with no splits, tears or creases. Clearly barely even handled. Lastly, the single folded card insert, again with window filling artwork in the form of the title (as seen on another picture), this is mint also and again this gets creased and grubbies easily simply by the threat of the record storage and use. So a UK made example (printed in England by Gothic Print Finishers Ltd) in this Mint(-) condition with practically pristine die-cut windows, is genuinely rare – the conditions are paramount for this one and their lies the difference.

Cover Grade and Format: Mint(-), to grate this ultra fragile cover less would be crazy [I hardly think a genuine absolutely pristine ‘Mint’ UK original will really exist today, if anyone claims to have one, they are truly lucky]. The format is explained above, made with matt finished card and inners. Even with some very faint rub trace marks on the back (look very hard to see any) and ultra mild edge rubbing on the bottom edge fold, this highly challenging cover is well worthy of such a grade. Emphasise again, this was printed in England, not Germany (please see the imprint on the back in close-up).

Cover Front: Perfect and in reference standard condition with ultra neat and crisp windows that show no burring. These are very crisply cut with no card residues or jagged edges and creasing has been avoided totally. I have sold a few other top copies of this title before but this front goes beyond exceptional and is my very best yet.

Cover Back: Very similar again, it does have a very few ultra light surface rubs but try to find this much better. I feel certain present from purchase ad this cover was immediately stored inside a protective outer cover.

Top Edge: This indeed is the entrance edge to store the records. This delicate edge is near pristine and razor sharp with no feathering or burring whatsoever and this again is unusual.

Bottom Edge: Some very light rubbing but again the least I have ever seen on this cover. This ‘resting’ edge is the most vulnerable of all and finding one with no wear is near impossible. Most show significant rubbing and more, this one has only light traces near the back fold towards right of centre. This retains the full thick shape which is totally uncompressed or even creased.

Right Edge(s), and Type: No compression or crushing, the odd miniscule surface rub but look hard to see any.

Spine and Text: I am loathe to use the word ‘perfect’ but this spine is little short of that. Solid, straight, uncompressed and square. All the red text is perfect and unworn and this has avoided any rubbing (please see my spine picture).

Corners: These vulnerable corners show very little traces of any wear and have no dinks. Incredibly fragile with little support from an airy cover. All have retained their original shape with no creasing or distortions. Their crispness is unusual as most will fray and flatten, these are so unusual like this.

Cover Summary: A superb all round example of this high delicate and critically revealing mid-70’s cover, one that will prove very difficult to match or find significantly better. Proof that any delicate cover, if stored carefully can remain looking something close to new even after 30+ years. This beautiful item should please most realistic collectors.

The Inners: Both Mint as new, these are unlined, both unsplit and clean. No rubbing, no creasing, no wear.

The Folded Insert: Practically Mint again with nothing to fault. Clean, fresh with no ‘set-off’ from the inners which happens all too frequenly on this unless kept away from dark surfaces. This again the best I have ever seen.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: All four sides Mint(-), and both these records are pretty much as bought with barely a noteworthy mark or blemish to be seen. These unlined card inners are harsh and all copies of this had the records inside them from manufacture until ‘first’ removal. Most of the ‘careful collectors’ put them into replacement lined inners but it did not stop a few ultra faint surface marks or fine scuffs happening initially on many copies. It still makes me cringe removing any record from these type of inners and glad to state the one and only owner of this set put his into a pair of Decca lined inners for maximum safety. Few records that came in these hard unlined inners escape totally but this set is pretty close and even with critical viewing, little unwanted can be seen. A superb visual copy that is super clean, shiny, intense black and quite solidly pressed. A copy now played just twice after my play-grade and this pair will prove very difficult to find better for looks. Visually wonderful records that should please most collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippetts or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: Both records play superbly well with little to fault. Powerful, distortion-free sound with few blemishes, this has amazing sonic properties. A little minor and very brief surface sound was noted a couple of times on quieter passages of which there are few but most all of the songs play with stunning clean sound. Any double set with less will prove elusive. All frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is astonishing with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. This was a joy and gave a true sense of awe, the power of Bonham’s percussion has to be heard from the vinyl source. Few copies will match this early British pressing I feel sure, and these have probably not been handled since their initial play and put to tape. Visually, both records could pass for new and practically nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading these monumental records. This set could prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT neccessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
