Led Zeppelin : Presence A1 / B1 1st Press

This first pressing plays to a very high standard possible with very little intrusion.  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is superb and it has been hardly played in my opinion based on the visual and audio quality.  This album is renown for playing with a 'tinny' distorted sound but there is not too much of that here and there are certainly no clicks or pops and barely any static.

The embossed cover has been preserved so well and has lost none of its original shape and structure.  It is very clean indeed with barely any marking.  The paper inner has just one side split but is still very clean.

This first pressing has Made In UK on the labels and the band name / title on the front cover and the Apollo logo on the back are embossed.  The text on the spine is a darker black also.

Visual description

This vinyl is in lovely condition and still has a very impressive glossy sheen with no marks or scratches.  Under a bright light I can only see a handful of very faint hairlines and there is nothing that stands out.  The grooves are very clean and there is no mottling either.  The Swan Song labels have no marking / writing and hardly any spindle wear.

Play grading

The quiet build up on 'Achilles Last Stand' plays very clearly with only a handful of very quiet static sounds and as the volume increases the playback is deep and strong with zero intrusion.  Plant's opening vocal section is faultless and it continues to play with outstanding power and definition and... superb clarity.  The audio is so clean and therefore Bonham's driving percussion is so strong and 'upfront'.  Page's solo section has no distortion and that applies to the entire track.  The next vocal has no background either and the rest of the track plays very clearly with only a couple of extremely quiet ticks and a couple more very near the end, nothing intrusive.  The first part of the intro is Ex and is then Near Mint- from then on.

'For Your Life' plays with high end audio from start to finish with no background at all.  Jones' bass is so deep and strong here and the clarity and depth of the audio is flawless, there is no one dust tick even let alone anything more.  Mint

'Royal Orleans' plays with very strong audio.  As Led Zepp aficionados will know it often has a 'tinny' distorted sound which is down to how it was recorded / produced and whilst the audio isn't crystal clear there are no ticks, clicks or pops.  I will say Ex+ although it does seem a little harsh to downgrade it.

The 'Eastern' intro on 'Nobody's Fault But Mine' for once plays perfectly and as Bonham and Jones join there is no drop in quality.  The opening vocal is equal to that and the first 'silence' is 100% silent.  It continues to play with real quality and the instrumental section is superb.  It is so strong and clear, incredible harmonica work!  Page's solo towards the end is just as impressive and overall this is Mint- at the very least.

'Candy Store Rock' plays with sublime quality from the get go.  The intro is perfect and it continues to play with stunning precision.  The clarity and power of the audio is unrivalled and Mint is deserved.

'Hots On For Nowhere' plays to a very high standard also with nothing getting in the way of the audio.  If there is any inner groove distortion it is so so minimal and totally non-intrusive.  Mint-

The opening section on 'Tea For One' has no interference and the first quiet section then plays with stunning clarity, there is just one very quiet tick.  Plant's opening vocal also plays so clearly and it proceeds in much the same way.  This classic so often plays with a a fair amount of static but not here!  The first high octane passage is faultless and has no distortion and the long quiet instrumental section with Page leading it has no background apart from one minor static only, the clarity of sound is so impressive.  The final vocal section is nigh on perfect and this is easily one of the cleanest versions of this classic that I have ever listened to.  Perhaps ever so slightly 'muddy' towards the end so I will grade as Near Mint - a superb version for sure.

The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve

The embossed cover is in excellent condition and is still very clean which is a rarity.  The edges and wide spine have no marking / rubbing and all the corner have next to no wear also.  The opening edge looks untouched and the front cover has one small fade mark by the top edge which is very faint and an even smaller faint blemish on the right side.  There is perhaps a minor amount of fading alongside the right edge but again it is very faint and hardly worth a mention really.  The back cover is in superb condition also with only minor fading by the left edge.  The inside of the gatefold is in lovely condition with only the bare minimum of fading / yellowing by the left and right edge.  A fine example overall and not often found as clean as this.

The original paper inner has one small(ish) side split but is otherwise in excellent order with only one tiny mark.  It has the usual 'marking' down each side which is the glue showing through holding it together, it's unavoidable.  Minor creasing on the top edge also.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
