MEGA RARE LED ZEPPELIN: Stairway to Heaven ORG UK Promo Issue 7” single
Welcome to my listings.To all overseas bidders Please read before bidding. I will not falsify any information when sending custom declarations. I will indicate the true value of any item that has been sold. It is the responsibility of the buyer to pay the correct custom duty on any winning item.

All items are packed and dispatched in heavy duty LP mailers with cardboard reinforcements. I use heavy duty packaging tape. I always separate the LP from the sleeve and any inner sleeves that are part of the LP. This stops any damage to the item while in transit.

This is an ULTRA RARE HIGH VALUE 7” PROMO single and so beware of fakes as detailed below.
This original 7” PROMO single is ULTRA RARE - LZ3 - Stairway to Heaven on side 1 with Whole Lotta Love on side 2. There were only 150 of these pressed as a PROMO and then distributed in the UK in November 1990 to coincide with the release of the Remasters 6 LP Box set on September 7th 1990 (the 3 LP triple was released slightly later on October 15th 2010).
Peter Grant exercised supreme control over many areas of the band’s management often in conjunction with Jimmy Page. Neither of them wanted to issue a single in the UK as the LP format was preferred media format.
East West Records based in London at Electric Lighting Station, 46 Kensington Court, London W8 5DP was a wholly subsidiary of Warner Music Group and whilst formed as part of Atlantic Records in 1955 had laid virtually dormant until 1990 when it was revamped. Management and staff at this “new” entity were naturally keen to make their mark within the industry and pressed for the general release of a UK 7” single.
In1990, to coincide with the Remasters release, East West Records pressed just 150 PROMO copies of LZ3 to be sent to DJs and music promoters in the industry prior to the general release which was planned thereafter.
Obvisously when Peter Grant heard about this he was furious and vetoed it straight away in order to protect the “no 7” UK single” policy.
The fake Promos can be spotted in a number of ways:
1. The fakes have a run out deadwax with the following matrix: Side 1: LZ-3A-1 LYN: 27947 ?? with Side 2: LZ-3B-1 LYN: 27948 ?? whereas the original has LZ-3-A with DM etch and LZ-3-B with DM etch.
2. The fake’s label colours are a deeper green and orange and may also display a dotted background rather than a more solid background with a lighter orange and green in line with Atlantic Records’ green and orange labels seen on the original UK releases rather than the later “W” Warner logo label variants.
THE SLEEVE: Plain White.
THE VINYL: Both sides of this single still retains all of its original lustre and sheen with no dulling and in daylight looks awesome. Placed under a 100w bulb there just 2 surface marks that can also be seen with the naked eye. There is one on Side 1 and the other is on Side 2. Both marks can not be felt. There are no deep scratches which can be seen or felt. Due to these marks I have graded the vinyl in VERY GOOD+ condition.

PLAY GRADED:
Equipment used to test this LP was my Townshend Rock II turntable positioned on a Townshend Seismic Vibration Isolation Platform, with a Linn Ittok modified arm and Audio Technica VM95ML Shibata modified cartridge feeding through a Trilogy 906 phono stage positioned on a Townshend Seismic Sink. Amplification is a Lavardin IS amp positioned on a Townshend Seismic Vibration Isolation Platform. Speakers are bi-wired Nordost Blue Heaven Rev II Speaker Cable Impluse H6's positioned on Townshend Seismic Isolation Bars.
I played both sides and other than minimal surface noise the surface mark on side 1 and 2 did not interfere with the play back of this single. There were no skips, jumps of mis-tracking. No distortion was heard while listening. The single plays closer to EXCELLENT than a VG+
Please note that this is a used item and there is always isolated static, ticks, light pops that maybe or can be heard, even in the quieter places during the play of any vinyl. There will be elements of surface noise.
