VERY UNUSUAL copy of Led Zeppelin III up for sale here. It's a SEALED copy on PURLE VINYL, a GATEFOLD, and per the sticker on the front, it is a DJ MONO PROMO copy, with a HYPE STICKER on the front top right declaring the songs on the LP. It does NOT HAVE THE MOVABLE WHEEL, but again, it IS a gatefold. So now, a little info from my side, I traded some vinyl for this copy (as well as a copy of Zep "II" & "Houses Of The Holy") while I was recovering from one of my many surgeries, and other than that, I don't remember anything about these. I was told that the colored dot sticker declares the color of the vinyl, in this case purple. Now, lets be honest, I don't THINK these are in anyway official releases, but I honestly don't know. I've had them for several years now while I recovered from my bs, and am just now pulling them out. I am assuming they are boots, and if so, they are INCREDIBLY well done. The cover is exactly like the official releases, but to my knowledge, Zeppelin NEVER put out lps in Mono. I have searched for these, and all I've come up with is that they sound excellent, and the mono was likely created by a "fold down" process. In otherwise, the stereo mix was run through both channels to create a mono experience (both sides of your speakers or headphones should have the same sounds coming out of them). So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it lol. I'm not sure where or when they were manufactured, but most of my investigation says its likely Germany. The cover is immaculate, great corners with only super minimal bumping, NO edge or ring wear, an incredibly clean and legible spine, and there is NO tears or splits in the shrink wrap. If this is a boot, they should be in business legally, as this is wonderful packaging, down to the Atlantic MONO stamp front bottom right. You may never see another "mono" copy, on colored vinyl or not, aside from their 45's that usually have a stereo, and a mono, side to them. Check our store to see one.
