Description
YES, the real thing, a UK stock copy of Whole Lotta Love, in stereo.
The large centre hole had me puzzled for some years. I showed it to other collectors, but as no one had ever seen a copy, that was no help.
Then in 1995, a copy was advertised in Record Collector, so I sent the owner some photos. He confirmed that they looked just like his copy.
In 2003 Record Collector published an article by someone who stated that large hole copies were jukebox issues, worth just £20. Thankfully, this was refuted by a letter from Gene Robinson, who wrote, 'All Polydor-distributed 45 releases during 1969, and indeed up to mid-1971, were issued with the standard large centre hole.' He added ' as far as I am aware, there was no juke-box issue of (Whole Lotta Love) in the UK.' I will include a copy of his whole letter to the winning bidder.
The vinyl is in VG condition. Whole Lotta Love has an edit in the middle, cutting out the entire whooshing section, and an early fade. There are a few light surface marks, and some light crackles apparent before the song starts. In the 'way down inside' echo-y section at the end, there is a light scratch on the right hand channel, of 12 clicks dutation. The label is clean, but appears slightly faded.
Livin Lovin Maid has a few light marks, which are inaudible. The label has an area of staining at the top, about the size of a thumbprint.
I have placed a reasonable reserve on this item. If this is met, I will post free of charge anywhere in the world, with Special Delivery in the UK, or International Signed For outside the UK. Additional insurance i will supply, at cost, if the winning bidder requests it.
