LEE KONITZ Inside Hi-Fi 1957 Rare Original LP RVG DG
A great alto/tenor sax session, extremely RARE, in excellent condition.
In a quartet setting, Lee Konitz is featured with just a rhythm section, either Sal Mosca on piano or Billy Bauer on guitar; Peter Ind or Arnold Fishkind on bass; and Dick Scott, drums.
This is the first recorded session where Konitz also played tenor, playing with a rougher tone and, he says, “one of the most spontaneous feelings I’ve ever had.”
This monophonic recording was released on Atlantic 1258 in 1957. The label is black with silver printing. Rudy Van Gelder handled the recording (but without his trademark RMV.)

I play-graded this album VG++. The mono sound is excellent, but there are noticeable traces of surface noise, most evident under Peter Ind’s bass solo on Side B, Track 3. And there were a few odd minor pops.

Visually, under bright light, the vinyl still has a good shine, and I picked out a faint scuff or two, and some hairline scratches, but nothing significant. I graded it VG++.
The cover is excellent, with no visible wear. But both lower corners show tiny dings. The back cover looks good, with with very faint aging and three faint gray wear spots half way down and two-thirds over from the edge. I would grade it VG++ or even NM-.
