Lee Morgan Candy Blue Note Records mono LP BLP 1590
With Sonny Clark, Doug Watkins & Art Taylor. Sleeve has splits just starting to form in right corners and some wear/rubbing at all corners, as well. Light crease in top right corner. Glossy front has some light aging with some light stains along spine and at center of top edge. Back cover has some ring and shelf wear with a price sticker in top right corner. See photos for more details. Vinyl is only in GOOD PLUS condition with lots of light surface scuffs and scratches (more so on Side One and Side Two). Plays through without skipping and sounds remarkably good considering the visual grade. Displays various levels/areas of tolerably soft surface noise (vinyl hiss/soft crackle) that is most noticeable in the quiet passages and sparse arrangements. Far from perfect but still with much to offer.
General remarks about the current batch of jazz LPs we'll be listing in the coming days (If you've read this bit once, no need to continue): We acquired this collection from a musical collegue of our friend Daoud Haroom (the trombonist on Ronnie Boykins self-titled LP on ESP-Disk). There are a lot of rare gems in this batch, but the condition of the sleeves and vinyl varies greatly from really nice to not nice at all. Apparently the original owner had a son who was using (abusing) the vinyl to lift samples for his hip hop project, and he was not always very careful about handling the records. I'll only be listing the stuff that seems worthy - and will give detailed descriptions of the condition. All the vinyl has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty machine and, where needed, also by hand with a chamois rag and Groovy cleaner. All the vinyl will have a paper inner sleeve (original or in some cases new) + a new clear poly bag for added protection. feel free to ask questions.
