LEE MORGAN “Lee Morgan Vol.3” Blue Note 1557, “P”, “RVG”, DG, Original Mono Vinyl.
This is the original 1957, DG, mono, Flat Rim, “RVG”, “P” pressing of LEE MORGAN’s “Lee Morgan Vol. 3” on the 47 West 63rd NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1557. Musicians include Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Gigi Gryce, Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Charlie Persip.
VINYL is in nice condition; plays with consistent very low-level surface noise and occasional pops and ticks. But the noise is beneath the music, which is clear, forceful and dynamic. Noise mostly evident on ballads. Hairline marks but no feelable scratches. No warps. No distortion. No skips. Good gloss, both sides. The music is largely clear, forceful and dynamic. Tone is full and warm. The 47 West 63rd NYC labels (No “R” under “Note”) Deep Groove labels are clean and in very good condition with minimal spindle wear under direct light. See photos.
Front LAMINATED COVER is in nice condition; no spine split. Laminate in excellent condition, but beginning to peel on corners and one spot at jacket opening. See photos. One half-inch lower seam split, taped. Corners worn, two corners chipping. See photos. The “47 West 63rd St, New York 23” back jacket shows signs of aging and staining, lower seam. See photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers.
