LEE MORGAN - RARE!! FACTORY SEALED! MINT VINYL! 1980 BLUE NOTE CLASSIC JAZZ ISSUE OF THE PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED "TOM CAT" ALBUM! UNOPENED AND UNPLAYED!
These August 1964 recordings made at Van Gelder Studio were produced by Alfred Lion and prepared for posthumous release in the Blue Note Classic series by Michael Cuscuna.
Lee Morgan on Trumpet, with Jackie McClean on Alto Sax, Curtis Fuller on Trombone, the great McCoy Tyner on Piano, Bob Cranshaw on Bass and the dynamic Art Blakey on Drums.
From Cuscuna's in-depth liner notes I grabbed a brief note. "With the exception of Tyner's lovely, triple meter ballad Twilight Mist, which showcases McCoy and Lee, all of the compositions are by Lee. And each is strikingly unique in flavor and musical construction. Throughout, these six men play off each other beautifully." That says it all!
Of note: Other than a clean hole cut at the top right cover for promotional purposes, this album is in absolutely pristine condition! See the photos!
According to Popsikes, resale of copies in this condition have been pushing to near $100 in the last year. This copy is worth that as an outright purchase price. If you are a reseller and do much overseas business (I don't currently), you can expect to sell this copy for more than $100.
