First time ever for sale on Ebay! A STILL SEALED ORIGINAL COPY of Lee Morgan's masterpiece The Gigolo!!!
One of Lee Morgan's finest hard bop albums for Blue Note, The Gigolo features an incomparable lineup of Wayne Shorter on tenor sax, Harold Mabern Jr. on piano, Bob Cranshaw on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums.
From all indicators, this is an ABSOLUTE 1st PRESSING:
Original 1966 Blue Note Stereo Pressing ~Cardboard cover~ ~'Stereo' tab at upper left corner on front~ ~Spine print reads: 'BST 84212 - THE GIGOLO - LEE MORGAN - BLUE NOTE'~ ~Text on bottom left reads: 'Liberty Records Inc. Printed in the U.S.A.'~ ~On the back cover, underneath the liner notes, text reads: 'Printed in U.S.A. Blue Note Records Inc., 1776 Broadway, New York, N.Y./6920 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif.'~ ~NO MENTION of 'United Artists' (which would indicate a later pressing)~ ~Weight of cover and vinyl is consistent with other original mid-60's Blue Note pressings~ ~Labels are presumed to be original classic blue and white Blue Note design with 'Division of Liberty' print~ ~Dead wax is presumed to have 'Van Gelder' stamp in dead wax on both sides~
CONDITION: Cover: NM/SEALED. Slight bumping to corners only. Cover has been nicely preserved under tight shrink wrap. No signs of warping or bending. Labels: MINT. Vinyl: MINT. The sound of a mint original Blue Note record is not comparable with any subsequent pressing or high quality reissue. A real treasure for any Lee Morgan collector or jazz audiophile!
