Description
The Rumproller by Lee Morgan, recorded and released in 1965, was his 11th recording for Blue Note as leader. He was then only 26 years old. Joe Henderson joins him again on tenor sax, as he did on The Sidewinder. Billy Higgins plays drums again (also on The Sidewinder) It was commercially overshadowed by The Sidewinder, though it was somewhat similar. It was never clear whether it was availability, or preference for artists that accounted for the wide range of personnel he recorded with for Blue Note. If you're a Morgan fan you'll want a copy.
Cover condition, VG+ There is wear and soiling to the front, and back side has soiling and light smudging. The spine is intact and legible with wear evident. The bottom seam is worn, but not split. The top seam shows more wear and has a 2-1/2" split plus some flaking.
Vinyl condition, VG+ It retains most of it's original luster, with nice, clean labels and no spindle marks. Side 2 has a light scratch across track one and part of track two. It is not deep, and cannot be felt. Listening through headphones, it produced no audible ticks, and does not affect play. Side two is nearly pristine and it's condition is EX.
Please note that while this pressing has New York labels, and VanGelder stamped in the deadwax, it is a Liberty pressing, as it does not have the Plastylite "P." If a seller's copy has the P, or ear it will almost always be stated. If not, an honest seller won't obfuscate that fact.
